Chip McDaniel

Chip McDaniel won the 2013 Kentucky State Amateur Championship by six shots to tie the tournament record. He was 2013 National PGA Junior Champion, a three-time Kentucky Junior Amateur Champion and named 2011 Mr. Golf of Kentucky.
McDaniel posted four consecutive top-five finishes at the Kentucky High School state tournament and is a three-time KGA-PGA Junior Player of the Year. He was also a standout on the hardwood, where he was named First Team All-State and the 13th Region MVP. Helped lead his high school basketball team to a regional championship. In the classroom, McDaniel earned Academic All-State honors each year of high school and carried a 4.0 GPA.
He joined the University of Kentucky golf team in the fall of 2014.
2014-15 (Fr.) Notes: Started 11 tournaments for the Wildcats in his freshman campaign and ranked second on the team with a 72.12 stroke average. Earned All-SEC Freshman team honors after leading the Wildcats with an 11th-place finish at the SEC Championships. Had six total top-20 finishes and placed in the top 10 on two occasions. Captured the individual crown at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with an 11-under par final score.
2015-16 (So.) Notes: A 2016 PING Third-Team All-America selection and All-SEC second-team member. Posted six top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the SEC Championship and 4th at the NCAA Regional. Claimed the individual title at the Grove Intercollegiate. UK's top finisher at the NCAA Championships with a T-26th finish. Led the team with a 71.76 stroke average.
2016-17 (Jr.) Notes: Finished in the top 20 on eight occasions and top 10 five times. He fell out of the top-25 individuals on the leaderboard just once all season. Finished 3rd at the Steelwood Intercollegiate and set the team low 54-hole score of 210 (-6) following rounds of 72, 70, and 68. Fired a career-low 65 (-7), which was also the team-low round for the season, on the final day of competition at the Gary Koch Invitational. T-7th with a score of 219 at the NCAA Regional Championship.
2017-18 (Sr.) Notes: Shot a season-low 66 three times and twice at the Gary Koch Invitational where he finished as the runner-up. Claimed his third collegiate individual title when he won the Bearcat Invitational. Finished T-11th at the NCAA Regional and sent UK to the NCAA Championship after holing in for eagle on the 18th in the final round. Academic All-SEC Team member.
2018 Notes: McDaniel turned professional after graduating from Kentucky. He made his professional debut at the local Barbasol Championship finishing T-60th. Won his first professional tournament at the Governor's Open at Juniper Hill in Frankfort, Kentucky.
2019 Notes: T-5th in his only PGA Tour start this season at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship, thanks to a final-round 63.
McDaniel will make his first U.S. Open start after surviving local qualifying in Lexington, Ky., and then sharing medalist honors in the Springfield, Ohio sectional at 6-under 134.
