Jason Allen

Played in 1995 & '96 U.S. Amateurs, made it to match play and lost in the 1st round in 1995. Won the 1996 Colorado State Amateur and the Southern Colorado Amateur. The last time Allen won a sectional, it was in a 1998 playoff to get into the Open at Olympic Club in San Francisco. Allen was a different person than he was in 1998 when he qualified to play in the U.S. Open. Back then he was a 25 year old assistant pro that was just waiting to bring the world to his knees. But like a lot of stories in golf, things didn't work out the right way. After years of trying to make it professionally in golf, Allen got married and in 2004 when a sponsor backed out gave up his golfing dream to get into the home loan business, working for Southern Fidelity Mortgage in Las Vegas and have a family. He has two children under the age of two and doesn't play much golf anymore. But his wife always entered him in the U.S. Open with the thought that if he make it he would take the family to the U.S. Open. So she will get her chance when Allen plays in the U.S. Open again at Oakmont. Also special to him is his caddie is Pete Severson, a childhood friend who was hit by a drunk driver last year the day before the US Open Sectional Qualifier which constricted him to a wheelchair and was told by doctors he should not attempt to walk for a year but has been playing golf again for about five months and having him carry the bags makes this tournament special for both men.
