Jonas Blixt

Blixt, who loves hockey and played for his state team in Sweden, was the highest-ranked non-U.S.born collegiate player in 2008. He turned professional in the summer of that year and made his first professional appearance at the Barclays Scottish Open on the European Tour, where he missed the cut. Two weeks later, he finished T-31st at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational, having been one of only eight college players receiving an invitation to play. Also missed the cut in the Omega European Masters, his only other European Tour event. At the end of the year, he made it to the finals of PGA Tour Q-School, finishing T-37th, which got him onto the Web.com Tour.
In 2009, Blixt made the cut in 14 of 25 Web.com Tour starts during his rookie season, with eight top-25 finishes to help him end the year 43rd on the money list. Earned his first career top-10 with a T-3rd result at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open.
2009 Web.com Summary: Tournaments entered - 25; in money - 14; top-10 finishes - 3; scoring average 70.54 (ranked 45th); money $144,637 (ranked 43rd); best finish, T-3rd Chitimacha Louisiana Open.
During the 2010 season, made 14 cuts in 26 starts and had five top-25 finishes, ending the season 59th on the Web.com Tour money list. In his first start, finished T-9th at the Panama Claro Championship, his best performance since the Cox Classic in July 2009 when he finished T-5th. Had a career-best finish 15 starts later at the Price Cutter Charity Championship, firing all four rounds in the 60s, including a second-round 65, to finish T-2nd.
2010 Web.com Summary: Tournaments entered - 26; in money - 14; top-10 finishes - 3; scoring average 70.03 (ranked 30th); money $116,846 (ranked 59th); best finish, T-2nd Price Cutter Charity Championship.

2012 Notes: Got his first PGA Tour top-10 at the Wells Fargo, finishing T-9th. Earned second top-10, with a career-best T-3rd at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, finishing two strokes behind champion Jason Dufner. Came back the following week with a T-10th at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, his fourth consecutive top-15 finish. A rib injury sidelined him after missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament. Came back in the final regular-season event, finishing T-55th at the Wyndham Championship. Played in two FedExCup playoff events, but had his best finish at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals, where he came in 3rd. Won the Frys.com the following week by a shot over Tim Petrovic and Jason Kokrak. Finished the year 71st in the FedExCup standings and 34th on the money list with earnings of $2,255,695.
2013 Notes: After a slow start, Blixt traveled to his native Sweden for the Nordea Masters on the European Tour. At Bro Hof Slott GC, he opened with a 2-under 70, then reeled off rounds of 66-66-68 to finish 2nd, three strokes behind winner Mikko Ilonen. A month later during the Fourth of July week, he shot a 4-under 66 in the first round, then added 67s in his final three rounds at The Greenbrier Classic to win his second PGA Tour title by two strokes over four other golfers. After attending an Aerosmith concert the night before and becoming a "converted fan," Blixt overcame a four-stroke deficit in the final round and finished in near-darkness following a three-hour, 10-minute weather delay to claim the win. With the victory, he jumped 52 spots in the world rankings to 51st, qualifying him for the Open Championship and the PGA Championship. Finished the year 52nd on the FedexCup and 32nd on the money list with earnings topping the $2-million mark.
2014 Notes: Finished T-2nd in his first career start at the Masters Tournament with rounds of 70-71-71-71. Finish was the best by a Swedish player at the Masters and tied the best showing by a Swede in a major championship. Joined Fuzzy Zoeller (1979) as the only players to open their Masters careers with four consecutive sub-par rounds. Made 12 of 21 cuts on the PGA Tour, with just one top-10 finish. Failed to advance past the first FedExCup Playoffs event for the first time in the last three years. Ended the season by missing the cut at The Barclays, placing 102nd in the FedExCup standings and 91st on the money list. Finished T-5th at the European Tour's Volvo World Match Play Championship, losing in the quarterfinals to Henrik Stenson 2-down at The London GC in England.
2015 Notes: Played in 26 events making 12 cuts, he had one top-10, T-10th at the Wyndham Championship which moved him into the FedExCup playoffs. But missed the cut at The Barclays to finish 123rd in the Fedexcup and 30th on the money list.
