Justin Suh

He began playing tournaments at the age of 6 and shot his first 72 at the age of 7. Growing up, he competed often with his older sister Hannah (who played at Cal). Suh, who prepped at Evergreen Valley High in San Jose, Calif., is a rare four-time qualifier for the USGA Junior Amateur who came to USC with a handful of big wins on his resume. Among the few who have qualified four times for the USGA Junior Amateur are PGA stars Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. Suh finished second at the 2015 California State championships as a senior (by one stroke) a year after winning it as a junior in 2014. The 2014 NGCA Junior Championship winner also won the Central Coast Section title in 2014 and 2015, the latter winning in a one-hole playoff. As a 2013 sophomore, he tied for third at the Central Coast Section event. He won the individual title at the 2014 Hogan Cup and took second at the 2014 Junior America's Cup. He was named the 2014 and 2015 San Jose Mercury News Boys Golfer of the Year and the 2013 Junior Tour of Northern California Player of the Year.
The former University of Southern California All-American earned his second U.S. Open start, and first as a professional, by advancing from the Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., final qualifier. First qualified in 2016 at Oakmont as an amateur, missed the cut in both the 2016 and 2021 U.S. Open. As a USC junior in 2017-18, Suh produced one of the greatest seasons in Trojan history, winning five times and being named Pacific-12 Conference Player of the Year. The following year, he became USC's first consecutive first-team All-American since Jamie Lovemark in 2007-08. Suh finished his career as a four-time All-American. Suh represented the United States at the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy, winning the silver medal with Cole Hammer and Collin Morikawa. He was a 2018 USA Palmer Cup Team member, going 3-1-0 in match play. He was number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking between October 2018 and April 2019.
Suh turned professional after graduating with a degree in business administration in 2019. When Suh turned pro, he was battling a left wrist injury resulting from repetitive overuse that led to tendonitis. Poor swing mechanics crept in. It took time to undo the bad habits and strengthen the arm. He played briefly on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica before joining the Korn Ferry Tour. In 2019, he produced four top-10 finishes in five events on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. In 2020 he played the inaugural LOCALiQ Series, appearing in five tournaments, making five cuts, and posting four top-10s. He finished the season 18th on the points list.
2021 Notes: Played in 11 PGA Tour events, making six cuts. His best finish was T-8th at the Shriners Hospitals. He also played in four Korn Ferry Tour events; his best finish was T-48th at the Albertsons Boise Open. At the end of the year was T-39th at the Korn Ferry Tour qualifying tournament.
2022 Notes: Played in 24 Korn Ferry Tour events making 21 cuts with ten top-ten finishes. Earned his first PGA Tour card as he finished 1st on the season-long Korn Ferry Tour Eligibility Points List, overtaking regular season leader Carl Yuan in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals with a top-10 at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship and victory at the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship which also vaulted him to 1st on the Korn Ferry Tour Finals Eligibility Points List, joining him with Scottie Scheffler (2019) and Chesson Hadley (2017) as the only players to sweep both No. 1 rankings. He led the Tour with 10 top-10s across 24 starts, including five top-10s in his final six starts. He also recorded 16 top-25s across his last 20 starts of the season. The No. 1 ranking on the season-long points list earned Suh fully exempt status for the 2022-23 TOUR season and exemptions for the 2023 Players Championship and U.S. Open.
2023 Notes: Held a one-shot lead after the second round of The Honda Classic and went on to finish T-5th, five shots back of the Chris Kirk/Eric Cole playoff. He finished T-6th at the Players Championship.
