Lance Ten Broeck

Ten Broeck was born in Chicago and grew up in Beverly, Illinois, a community on the southwest side. He attended the University of Texas and was a member of the golf team from 1975 to 1976. He was a two-time All-America selection and winner of the Massengill Trophy in 1975. He turned professional in 1977.
Broeck played in 355 PGA Tour events in his career, making the cut 162 times and added 11 top-10 finishes. His best finish in an official PGA Tour event was a stand-alone second in the 1991 Chattanooga Classic, he was 2 shots back of winner Dillard Pruitt. His best finish in a major was a T-31st in the 1991 U.S. Open. He won the 1984 Magnolia State Classic before that tournament became an official PGA Tour event.
After his playing days were over, he began work as a caddie. His clients have included several big-name players, notably Robert Allenby and Jesper Parnevik. Since he made more than 150 cuts in his career on the PGA Tour, Broeck is exempt from qualifying, although near the bottom of the list in eligibility. He frequently commits to playing in events in which he is scheduled to caddie, just in case the unlikely happens and more players drop out than there are alternates at the course. In 2008, he returned to the PGA Tour for the first time since 1998 in the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, a tournament played opposite the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. In May 2009, he caddied for Jesper Parnevik and also played in the Valero Texas Open, where he missed the cut but finished ahead of Parnevik. He attempted to repeat the feat in February 2010 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun. He caddied for Richard S. Johnson in the morning then played in the afternoon (replacing Notah Begay III). After shooting 5-over-par, he withdrew from playing the second round.
Broeck says that he has earned more in his best season working as a caddie ($235,000) than in his best season as a player ($146,568 in 1989).
Began playing on the PGA Tour Champions in 2008, entering just one event in both '08 and '09. Entered two events in 2010 and his best finish was a T-29th at the Home Care & Hospice First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. Did not play in 2011, but entered seven events in 2012, recording one top-10 finish, a T-9th at the U.S. Senior Open. Also added one additional top-25 finish, a T-16th at the 3M Championship.
2013 Notes: He competed in four events with his best finish a T-61st at the U.S. Senior Open. Went back to PGA Tour Champions Q-School and unfortunately didn't get his card after finishing T-18th.
2014 Notes: Played in three PGA Tour Champions events, T-14th at the U.S. Senior Open, T-77th at Nature Valley First Tee and T-47th at AT&T Championship.
2015 Notes: Played in five PGA Tour Champions events, missing cut at U.S. Senior Open, 58th at the Encompass Championship, T-51st at the Senior Open Championship, 70th at the Boeing Classic and T-20th at Dick's Sporting Goods Open.
2016 Notes: A player and a caddie, he was on Freddie Jacobson's bag this year. In his only start missed the cut at the U.S. Senior Open. Went to Champions Q-School but finished T-36th.
2017 Notes: Played three times, T-34th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, missed cut at the Senior Open Championship and T-73rd at the Boeing Classic. Went to PGA Tour Champions Q-School but finished T-23rd.
2018 Notes: Played twice T-34th at the Boca Raton Championship and missed cut at the Senior PGA Championship.
2019 Notes: Playing in mini-tour events in Florida.
