Mark Anguiano

His earliest golf memory was playing golf with his father and uncle at Fullerton Golf Course, and he realized that he wanted to play golf in his sophomore year at La Serna High School in Whittier. At that time, the 15 year old was struggling at a junior tournament in Palm Desert, only in his third year playing competitive golf. All of a sudden he shot 77 and then a 65 to finish second in the tournament, and the dream was born. He realized that he could do it if he worked hard. Worked at his parents' meat/grocery market towards the end of high school and early on in college.
He was a late bloomer who worked hard. He wasn?t heavily recruited by colleges, as Cal-State Fullerton was the only school that offered him an athletic scholarship. Played four years for that team and led the Fullerton to back-to-back Big West Conference Championships in 2013 and 2014 and paced the conference with a 69.72 stroke average his final season. His biggest honor was winning the 2014 Big West Golfer of the Year.
On graduation he realized not much was available for him to play as a professional other than the Golden State mini-tour and the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. In January 2015 he went to the tour's qualifying tournament in Lima, Peru, and finished 2nd. He moved to Argentina and played on that tour, recording one top-10 (T-6th at the Aberto do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro) and six top-25s in 11 starts on PGA Tour Latinoamerica, where he finished the year ranked 54th on the Order of Merit. Made the cut in three of four Web.com Tour starts, with a T-23rd finish at the Albertsons Boise Open as his best.
