Mike Cunning

Cunning played on the PGA Tour in 1984, making only one cut in 16 events. He played again on the Tour in 1992 after finishing T-13th at the 1991 Q-school. In 1992, he made 11 cuts in 30 events with one top 10 finish (T10th Viking Classic) and lost his tour card by finishing 165th on the money list. He played on the Web.Com Tour in 1993, makin 14 cuts in 23 events with two top 10 finishes (best T8th White Rose Classic & Permian Basin Open). He has played only sparingly in the U.S. since then.
Cunning has played most of his professional golf in Asia since 1981, and has been a regular on the Asian Tour since it began in its modern form in 1995. In 1997 he topped the Order of Merit with earnings of US$170,619, despite a best tournament finish of second place. In 2003 he won his only Asian Tour title to date at the Royal Challenge Indian Open. At the same time also made starts on the European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. Funny thing when he turned 50 in 1958 he didn't try to qualify for the Champions Tour but went off and played the European Senior Tour. He did try to qualify for the Champions Tour in 2013 but finished T-55 at Q-School.
On the European Senior Tour was runner-up to Mark Mouland in the 2011 Belas Clube de Campo Senior Open de Portugal, missing out on a third European Senior Tour title by one shot. Ended the season with a share of ninth place in the MCB Tour Championship to move inside the top 30 on the Order of Merit in 29th position. Victory in the 2010 season-ending OKI Castellon Senior Tour Championship was particularly timely given that his two-year exemption for winning on his debut in Brunei was due to expire. Surged through the field with a final round 64 in Spain to land his second Senior Tour title, one stroke clear of Jose Rivero. His previous win came on his debut in the 2009 season-opening Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters, when he finished two strokes clear of Jimmy Heggarty at The Empire Hotel & Country Club. In doing so he became the first player since Denis Watson in the 2007 US Senior PGA Championship to win in his first European Senior Tour event, a feat subsequently matched by Michael Allen in the 2009 US Senior PGA Championship. The victory also gained him playing privileges after spending 14 years predominantly on the Asian Tour. Renowned for being a fine ball striker and blames his putter for not allowing him to win as many titles as he should have. Started his sporting career in tennis and dreamed of becoming a professional player. During his teens, he toured Europe with the junior American Davis Cup team but realised later he had no future in the game ?as I had no wheels, no speed?.
