Sungjae Im

Im grew up playing at the CJ Nine Bridges Golf Club, which later hosted the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges. He turned professional at 17 and played in several Korean events until he qualified to play on the Japan Golf Tour.

At the end of 2017 finished second in the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, two strokes behind medalist Lee McCoy.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 Korn Ferry Tour events, making 20 cuts. He won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic by four shots over Carlos Ortiz in his first start on the Korn Ferry Tour. Im became the 16th player in Korn Ferry Tour history to win on his first start. At 19 years, 9 months, and 17 days, he became the second-youngest champion in the tour's history behind Jason Day (19 years, 7 months, and 26 days). The next week continued his excellent play as he finished second at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic. In the history of the Korn Ferry Tour, the second-best back-to-back Rookie starts only beaten by Ben Kohles, who won his first two Korn Ferry Tour starts in 2012. Im claimed another runner-up finish at the Knoxville Open, three strokes behind winner Stephan Jaeger, and then again at the Pinnacle Bank Championship, two strokes behind winner David Skinns. At the WinCo Food Portland Open, Im led after 54 holes and held on with a final-round 67 for his second win of the year. Went wire-to-wire as the money-list leader in the Regular Season and became the first player since 1990 to win the Tour's Regular Season's first and last event. His earnings of $534,325 were the second-highest on the Korn Ferry Tour (Michael Sim won $644,142 in 2009), and he earned a PGA Tour card for 2019. He was the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.
2019 Notes: Played in 35 PGA Tour events, making 26 cuts with seven top-10 finishes. He placed 19th in the FedExCup standings. In his first start of the season, he finished T-4th at the Safeway Open, one stroke out of the Tway/Moore/Snedeker playoff. Im closed with birdies on two of his last three holes in the final round. At the Waste Management Phoenix Open, recorded four rounds in the 60s and finished T-7th. He finished T-3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, three strokes behind winner Francesco Molinari. As one of the top-three finishers inside the top 10 not otherwise eligible for the British Open, Im earned a spot in the field at Royal Portrush. The following week, he finished T-4th at the Valspar Championship, two strokes behind winner Paul Casey. Was T-7th at the Corales Puntacana Resort Championship and shot a final-round 64 to finish 7th at the RBC Candian. He placed T-6th at the Wyndham Championship, and in the FedExCup playoffs, he finished T-38th at the Northern Trust, T-11th at the BMW Championship, and 19th at the Tour Championship. Im was named the Rookie of the Year. He played in the Presidents Cup for the first time and won twice, lost once, and halved a match. Defeated Gary Woodland in his singles match, 4 & 3.
2020 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 21 cuts with seven top-10 finishes. He was 11th in the FedExCup standings. He lost to Sebastian Munoz in a playoff at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He was T-3rd at the Zozo Championship, six shots back of Tiger Woods. He posted a T-10th at the American Express. He won his first PGA Tour title in his 50th career start, shooting a final-round 66 to win The Honda Classic by a stroke over Mackenzie Hughes. At age 21 years, 337 days, he became the second player aged 21 or younger to win in 2020, joining Joaquin Niemann, who won at The Greenbrier. The following week, he finished 3rd at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, shooting 74-73 over the weekend, two behind winner Tyrrell Hatton. He finished T-10th at the Charles Schwab Challenge in his first event after the break. He was T-9th at the Wyndham Championship. In the FedExCup playoffs, he missed the cut at the Northern Trust, finished T-56th at the BMW Championship, and 11th at the Tour Championship.
2021 Notes: Played in 35 PGA Tour events, making 29 cuts with five top-ten finishes. He was T-20th in the FedExCup standings. With rounds of 66-70-68-69 finished T-2nd at the Masters, five shots behind winner Dustin Johnson. The runner-up finish by Im was the highest finish by an Asian in Master's history. Before Im's runner-up finish, K.J. Choi held the record for the best finish among Asian golfers at the Masters, finishing third in 2004. He was T-5th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, four shots back of the Harris English/Joaquin Niemann playoff. In defense of his Honda Classic title finished T-8th. He was T-8th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, three shots back of the Davis/Merritt/Niemann playoff. He represented South Korea at the Tokyo Olympic Games, finishing T-22nd. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-16th at the Northern Trust. At the BMW Championship finished 3rd, four shots back of the Cantlay/DeChambeau playoff. He was T-20th at the Tour Championship. At the end of the year bought a home just outside of Atlanta.
2022 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 22 cuts with nine top-ten finishes. He was T-2nd in the FedExCup standings. Shot a final-round 62 to win the Shriners Children's Open by four shots over Matthew Wolff, earning his second PGA Tour title in his 100th career start at 23 years, 6 months, 10 days. Marked the lowest final-round score by a winner on Tour since Brendon Todd at the 2019 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Shot a final-round 64 the next week at the CJ Cup @ Summit to finish T-9th. He was T-8th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Finished T-6th at the Farmers Insurance, two shots back of the List/Zalatoris playoff. He finished T-8th at the Masters, his second top-10 in three starts at the event. He held a one-shot lead after shooting a first-round 67, his second career 18-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA Tour and his first since the 2019 Wyndham Championship. He went into the final round T-3rd but shot 75. Was T-10th a the Memorial. He was T-2nd at the 3M Open, three shots back of winner Tony Finau. He was 2nd again in his next start at the Wyndham Championship. He had a one-shot lead going into the final round, shot 68 but lost to Tom Kim by five shots when Kim shot 61 in the final round. It was his fourth career runner-up finish. In the FedEx Cup playoffs was 12th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T-15th at the BMW Championship. He went into the Tour Championship 10th on the FedEx Cup points list and despite spotting FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler six shots, was still able to finish T-2nd with Scheffler, a shot back of winner Rory McIlroy. He played in his second Presidents Cup, had a 2-2-1 record, and beat Cameron Young in the singles 1 up.
2023 Notes: Played in 31 PGA Tour events, making 25 cuts with nine top-ten finishes. He was 24th in the FedExCup standings. Finished 7th at the Shriners Children's Open, finishing with rounds of 63-67 over the weekend. He was T-8th in the unofficial Hero World Challenge. Was T-4th at the Farmers Insurance Open, four shots back of winner Max Homa. He was T-6th at the WM Phoenix Open. Shot a first-round 75 at the Players Championship and was T-110th. With rounds of 69-64-72, he finished T-6th, nine shots back of winner Scottie Scheffler. Shot 66-67 over the weekend to finish T-7th, three shots back of the Matt Fitzpatrick/Jordan Spieth playoff. Was 6th with partner Keith Mitchell a the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. T-8th at the Wells Fargo Championship. Went to play on the Korean Tour and won the Woori Financial Group Championship by a shot over Junseok Lee. In the FedExCup playoffs, he was T-6th at the FedEx St. Jude, 7th at the BMW Championship, and 24th at the Tour Championship.
2024 Notes: Shot final round 63 to finish T-5th at The Sentry, four shots back of winner Chris Kirk.
