Wesley Bryan

Bryan was introduced to the game at a young age by his father George, who played in the 1999 PGA Championship at Medinah, and now runs George Bryan Golf Academy in Chapin, South Carolina. His older brother, George IV, was a three-time All-American while at the University of South Carolina and his sister, Mary Chandler, played collegiate golf at the College of Charleston. Like his older brother, Wesley played several sports growing up and turned his focus to golf in high school. He was recruited by several Division 1 schools, and accepted a scholarship to the University of South Carolina, teaming up with his brother.
After a successful junior golf career that included multiple victories, he struggled at South Carolina, to the point where he nearly left the game after shooting 101 in a tournament during his junior year. He was fighting mentally with a case of the "yips." For the next three months following the disastrous tournament, he dedicated himself to the game. He would not allow his doubts about his swing get the best of him. His technique began to improve, and his scores soon followed. During his senior year, a refocused Bryan posted some of his best tournament scores in his collegiate career, including one victory and earning Team MVP honors. His confidence soared. In 2016, after graduating he turned professional and married his college sweetheart, who played an important role in turning around his game.
Once he turned professional, to help his finances which were tough at the time, he and his brother George started a YouTube channel featuring their golf trick-shot videos. In 2014 alone, their videos received more than two million views online. They both believed the endeavor could help fund their careers in achieving their dreams of competing on the PGA Tour. They also appeared on the golf reality show, Big Break - The Palm Beaches, Fla., in 2015. At the end of that year, Bryan went to Web.com Tour Q-School, finishing T-9th and getting a full Web.com Tour card for 2016.
2016 Web.com Summary: Tournaments Entered - 15; In Money - 11; Top-10 Finishes - 7; Scoring Average - 68.88 (Rank 3rd); Money - $449,392 (Rank 1st); Best Finish - 1st, Chitimacha Louisiana Open, El Bosque Mexico Championship and Digital Ally Open. Finished first in the final priority-ranking order to earn fully exempt PGA Tour status in 2016-17 and a spot in The Players Championship. Was named 2016 Web.com Tour Player of the Year.
2017 Notes: Earned his first top-five finish on the PGA Tour with a T-4th at the Genesis Open despite a final-round 1-over 72 to post 11-under 273. A week later at The Honda Classic, replicated the career-best T-4th finish. Followed up consecutive T-4ths with a third consecutive top-10 showing at the Valspar Championship (T-7th). A month later at the RBC Heritage, shot a final-round 67 to make up a three-shot deficit and defeat Luke Donald by a shot, becoming the first South Carolinian to win at Hilton Head. Became the sixth player in 49 years to win the RBC Heritage in his first attempt, and was the 12th player to post his first PGA Tour win at the Heritage. Shot 67-64 over the weekend to finish T-3rd at the John Deere Classic. Reached the BMW Championship and ended his year 41st in the FedExCup standings.
2018 Notes: Has struggled, with his best finish a T-27th at the Sentry TofC. Qualified for the Masters with his RBC Heritage victory. This will be his first Masters, the only major he hasn't played in yet.
