Oliver Goss

Born in England, Goss moved to Australia with his family when he was little. Today, he is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, majoring in kinesiology.
Goss was a Third-Team All-American in 2013 and finished runner-up to Matthew Fitzpatrick, 4 & 3, in the final of the U.S. Amateur. He defeated his fellow West Aussie, Brady Watt, in the semifinals. In 2012, he advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills.
He won the 2012 Western Australian Open Championship on the PGA Tour of Australasia in a sudden-death playoff with Watt. He became the first amateur since Stephen Leaney in 1991 to win the championship and the first since Danny Lee in 2009, to win on that tour. Two weeks later, he played in the Australian Masters on a sponsor's invitation and was grouped with fellow countryman and defending Masters champion, Adam Scott, and 2010 U.S. Open champion, Graeme McDowell.
Goss spent a lot of time getting ready for the Masters, in February he went down to play the course for the second time, but picked the wrong week. The area was hit by a huge snowstorm that left him stranded in his hotel for three days before traveling back to Tennessee. He also experienced an earthquake on the memorable trip.
Still Goss got ready and played the Masters and was the only amateur to make the cut, finishing 49th and receiving low amateur honors. Two weeks ago was sick with a throat and sinus infection and wasn't able to practice until June 1st. Planning on going to Pinehurst the Friday before the U.S. Open and play practice rounds starting that Saturday.
