Whee Kim

His full name is Kim Meen-whee. He was born in Seoul, South Korea and didn't take up golf until he was 12. He spent time learning the game by watching videos of Tiger Woods. As an amateur, Kim won the gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games, both individual and team. He turned professional shortly afterwards. As a gold medalist in the Asian Games, Kim is exempt from military service. Kim played on the Korean Tour and the OneAsia Tour. He finished eighth on the OneAsia Tour's Order of Merit in 2011.
2012 Notes: Led the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament after the second and third rounds before finishing T-43rd. Defeated Kevin Na in a playoff at the Shinhan Donghae Open on the Korean Golf Tour. Paul Casey and Charlie Wi finished T-3rd just two shots out of the playoff. Earned Rookie of the Year honors on the Korean Tour. Also competed on the OneAsia Tour.

2014 Web.com Summary: Tournaments Entered - 24; In Money - 14; Top-10 Finishes - 3; Scoring Average - 70.29 (Rank 46th); Money - $68,406 (Rank 72nd); Best Finish, T-3rd Nationwide Children's. Came to the final Regular Season event, WinCo Foods Portland Open, 77th on the money list, two spots outside the number needed to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals. Rounds of 68-69-73-68 resulted in a T-26th finish, allowing him to jump five spots to 72nd and earn a Finals' berth. Missed the cut in the first Finals' event, the Hotel Fitness Championship. Had a 37th-place finish the following week, at the Chiquita Classic. 2015 Notes: In his rookie season played in 23 PGA Tour events making 13 cuts with 2 top-ten finishes. His best finish was T-3rd at the Barbasol Championship, he finished 141st in the FedExCup race and 123rd on the money list.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 events and made the cut 14 times, he had two top-tens, the best was a T-3rd at the John Deere Classic. Had a shot at getting into the FedExCup playoffs as he was 125th going into the Wyndham Championship but missed the cut. Finished 127th in the FedExCup race and 133rd on the money list. Notched a T-9th at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Open during the Web.com Tour Finals with rounds of 65-71-70-71--277 (7-under) to finish 37th in the final priority-ranking order.
2017 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events making 11 cuts and finishing in the top-ten twice. FInished T-2nd at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, one shot back of winner Daniel Berger. It is Kim's best finish on the PGA Tour at the time. Was T-5th at the Puerto Rico Open. Finished 89th in the final FedExCup rankings.
2018 Notes: In his 3rd event of the year finished 4th and was the highest of the 16 Korean players in the field. Opened and closed the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open with 6-under 65s, good for a 9-under 275 total and spot in the playoff with Alex Cejka and Patrick Cantlay. Unable to match Cantlay's par on the second extra hole to get a runner-up finish. Had his second Korean Tour victory as he defeated Jeonghyeob Hyun 1-up in the final round of match play at the Descente Korea Munsingwear Matchplay at South Cape Owners Club. Got his 3rd career runner-up finish at the RBC Canadian Open after entering the final round tied for the lead. He finished 3 shots back of winner Dustin Johnson.
