Paul Goydos

He was a substitute teacher in Long Beach, Calif., at the time of his 1992 Yuma Open victory. He played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 1991 and 1992, receiving his tour card for the 2003 season when he finished T-13 at PGA Tour Qualifying School at the end of 2002.
He had played on the PGA Tour since then, except for 2004, when he only started twice after overcoming sinus surgery and hip problems.
He was one of Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin's assistants during the 2010 Ryder Cup in Wales.
1991 Nationwide Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 25; Rounds Played - 63; in money - 13; top -10 Finishes - 4; money $30,237 (Ranked 39th); Best finish - T-2nd at the Knoxville Open.
1992 Nationwide Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 29; Rounds Played - 74; in money - 17; top -10 Finishes - 3; money $61,104 (Ranked 17th); Best finish - won the Yuma Open.
Since joining the PGA Tour in 1993, he cracked the top 125, in 13 of the 20 years he played. He played in a total of 507 events, making the cut 297 times and finishing in the top 10 45 times with two wins, six seconds, and three-thirds.
2014 Notes: Joined the PGA Tour Champions in August and was among the top 10 in half his 10 appearances. He used top-10 efforts in back-to-back events in North Carolina to vault into the top 30 on the money list. His debut event was at the 3M Championship, and he finished T-9th. The highlight of his rookie season was recording his first Champions Tour win in just his fifth start at the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship, becoming the last of the season's six first-time winners. With the win, he became the eighth player to win tournaments on the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, and Korn Ferry Tour (Ron Streck, Keith Fergus, Tom Lehman, Gary Hallberg, Olin Browne, Kirk Triplett, and Jeff Maggert). He finished his first PGA Tour Champions year 28th on the money list and 24th in the Schwab Rankings. He made four of 19 cuts on the PGA Tour.
2015 Notes: Won his second career PGA Tour Champions title in his second start of the year at the Allianz Championship. He got up and down from just behind the green on the final hole for a birdie to edge Gene Sauers by one shot. The win came in his 12th career Tour start and was his second title in Florida, his first being in 1996 at the Bay Hill Invitational. He also had top-10s at the ACE Group Classic (T-10th), T-5th at the Principal Charity Classic, T-7th at the 3M Championship, 2nd at Dick's Sporting Goods Open, T-9th at the SAS Championship, T-7th at the San Antonio Championship, and 4th at the Toshiba Classic. He was 11th on the money list and 16th in the Schwab rankings.
2016 Notes: He wasn't in the top 20 in his first five starts until he finished 3rd at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, one shot back of the playoff. He finished T-8th with teammate Kevin Sutherland at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf. He earned his third Tour victory when he finished two better than Wes Short Jr. at Dick's Sporting Goods Open. He made a critical up-and-down on No. 17 and closed with a two-putt par at No. 18 for the win. He had his first career top-ten in a major when he finished T-6th at the U.S. Senior Open. Finished the year with a win at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, becoming the fifth multiple winners on the PGA Tour Champions in 2016. He finished 8th on the money list and 3rd in the Schwab Ranking.
2017 Notes: Played in 25 events and finished 19th on the money list. For the fourth year playing on the PGA Tour Champions, he won, this year the 3M Championship beating Gene Sauers in a playoff. Other top-tens are T-2nd at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf with teammate Kevin Sutherland, a shot back of the team of Carlos Franco and Vijay Singh. He was T-7th at the Insperity Invitational and T-9th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. He finished 19th on the money list.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour Champions events with seven top-ten finishes. He was T-2nd at the Insperity Invitational. Birdied 3 of his last 4 holes in the final round to finish 6th at the American Family Insurance Championship. He was T-5th in the U.S. Senior Open, two shots back of winner Davis Toms. He was runner-up at the Invesco QQQ, a shot back of winner Scott Parel. He was 7th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, which helped him finish 16th in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour Champions events with eight top-ten finishes. He was 22nd on the Schwab rankings. T-5th at the Hoag Classic 2 shots back of the Triplett/Austin playoff. T-5th at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf with partner Kevin Sutherland. T-4th at the Insperity Invitational and T-2nd at the Regions Tradition, 6 shots back of winner Steve Stricker. Was T-10th at the Japan Championship and T-6th at the U.S. Senior Open Championship. He was T-7th at the Sanford International, four shots back of winner Rocco Mediate. At his last start of the season, he was T-10th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 32 PGA Tour Champions events with seven top-ten finishes. He was 29th on the Schwab rankings. He was 3rd at the 2000 Dominion Energy Charity Classic, four shots back of winner Phil Mickelson. He was T-10th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship and was T-2nd at the 2021 Mitsubishi Electric Classic, three shots back of winner Dicky Pride. Was T-3rd at Dick's Sporting Goods Open, two shots back of winner Cameron Beckman. He was 8th at the Shaw Charity Classic and T-9th at the Ascension Charity Classic. He ended his season with a T-7th finish at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, four shots back of Phil Mickelson.
2022 Notes: Played in 22 PGA Tour Champions events with six top-ten finishes. He was 17th on the Schwab rankings and 20th on the money list earning $868,875. He was T-8th at the Rapiscan Systems Classic. Finished T-4th a the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, seven shots back of the winner Steven Alker. Shot a final round 65 to finish T-6th at the Principal Charity Classic, four shots back of the Jerry Kelly/Kirk Triplett playoff. Was T-8th at the American Family Insurance Open and T-10th at the Shaw Charity Classic. He was T-2nd at the TimberTech Championship, six shots back of the winner Bernhard Langer. In the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship was 24th.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-10th at The Galleri Classic.
