Don Walsworth

Walsworth graduated from Stanford University where he played golf for four years. He will be making his seventh USGA championship appearance. He qualified for the 1986 U.S. Amateur, and played in the U.S. Open twice, in 1994 and 1995. He made the cut and finished 44th in his first appearance. He also played in the 2004 and 2009 U.S. Mid-Amateur, but failed to make the cut for match play. Most recently, in the 2014 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, he and partner Jon Troutman reached the round of 16 after finishing match play as the No. 15 seed. The pair lost to Austin Connelly and Sam Burns, who reached the semifinals.
In 1985, he won the Missouri Amateur and then the Pac-10 Conference Championships in 1986. After turning professional, Walsworth played nine years on what is now the Web.com Tour as well as stints on the Asian and Nike Tours.
His son, Tripp, will caddy for Walsworth and is the reason he attempted to qualify. He kept mentioning what an experience it would be to be together at the Senior Open, which pushed the senior Walsworth to try his hand.
Away from golf, Walsworth is a printer of high school and college yearbooks and a commercial printer of catalogs and magazines.
