Aaron Pike

Aaron Pike was born in Karratha in Western Australia but moved to Darwin as a 7-year old and remained there until leaving for the Hills International College south of Brisbane to complete his schooling and develop his golf game in 2003 as a 17-year old.
Pike was a schoolmate of Jason Day during his time at the Hills and the pair remain friends to this day.
In 2007, as an amateur, Pike managed to qualify for the Australian Masters at Huntingdale and shocked the golfing world by finishing 4th behind Justin Rose in what was then a European Tour event.
Turning professional soon after, Pike has been unable to fulfill his potential and his career has been plagued by injury, the worst of which required a shoulder reconstruction in 2010. There has also been nerve damage in the back and in 2019 he has had a recurring tennis elbow injury to contend with.
His breakthrough win on the Australasian Tour came in 2018 when he won the Vic PGA Championship at Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. He won by a shot from Ryan Chisnall, having entered that event with a ranking of 1,532nd
Pike will make his Open Championship debut at the age of 35 thanks to a T-3rd in the 2019 Emirates Australian Open.
