Andrew Butterfield

It was the death of his father, George, which prompted Andrew to take up golf seriously. "I used to caddie for him at Sundridge Park but was never that interested," he says. "But when he died I decided to find out why he loved it so much." That was when Andrew was 11 and, in his own words; "pretty useless". Went to college in Bromley for Business Studies and Finance. Could not even get into the club team until just before he turned professional in 1993 with a handicap of one. For the past nine years he has been coached at Windlesham by Alan Barber, who has been the biggest influence on his game. Off the course, he loves movies and all kinds of music. He is also a supporter of Leyton Orient Football Club and watches them whenever he can. He went to Wembley for the Division Three play-off two seasons ago. "I became an Orient fan because a school friend's father was a director of the club and used to take us."
