Shot 69 and was co-medalist at the Powell, Ohio, sectional to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open. Made four putts of 15 feet or longer on the last four holes of sectional qualifying.
Advanced to match play in the 1983 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Cherry Hills in Englewood, Colo. Played in the 1988 U.S. Amateur and British Amateur. Also played in the 1989 British Amateur. Advanced to the match play round of the 2009 USGA Senior Amateur and played in that championship in 2008 and 2010. Was runner-up at the 2008 Indiana Senior Amateur Championship and the 1985 Tennessee Amateur Match Play. Finished fifth at the 2011 US Senior Challenge at Old Stone in Bowling Green, Ky. Has nine career holes-in-one. Best golf memory was having his dad with him at the British Amateur and playing golf with him after he was eliminated in match play. Considers Larry Mize to be a good friend and will play practice rounds with him at Inverness.
Is a Senior Vice President at Burke Inc., and deals with market research involving customer loyalty. Graduated from North Carolina State, but did not play golf there. Enjoys relaxing with his wife, Cynthia, and their 19-year-old daughter, Christine, who is a Freshman at Indiana.
