Cindy Figg-Currier

Figg-Currier was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. She started playing golf at age 7, as her parents owned a 27-hole golf course and were aggressive in starting junior golf clinics and tournaments. Figgs-Currier's parents also allowed kids to have extra access to the course and practice area. She was the 1976 Toledo, Ohio junior girls golf champion and the 1978 Michigan Prep golf champion while she was at Mount Pleasant High School.
Figg-Currier played college golf at the University of Texas where she was named Most Valuable Player as a senior. She led UT to three Top 10 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national tournament finishes. She individually won the 1982 Women's Trans-National. She graduated in 1982 with a business-marketing degree. At Texas, she met legendary instructor Harvey Penick who helped her with her game.
It took three tries for Figg-Currier to gain her LPGA Tour card. She played full-time between 1984 and 2005 playing in 461 events making 294 cuts. She had 42 Top 10s and won once at the 1997 State Farm Rail Classic. 1997 was her best year on tour as she had six Top 10 finishes and earned $317,392, which placed her 20th on the LPGA money list.
Along the way she married and had two daughters, one in 1995 (Kaitland Elizabeth) and another in 2002 (Mary Christina). With the second child, she realized she wanted to be home in Texas raising her family instead of playing on the LPGA Tour.
She spends her time in Texas and teaches some, helping out at the First Tee of Greater Austin with the Harvey Penick Golf Campus. She also played in the Legends Tour and had early success, earning co-champion honors at the 2008 BJ's Charity Championship, and winning the 2008 & 2010 Wendy's Charity Challenge. She was T37 in the 2018 Senior LPGA Championship.

Cindy shot 78-78-79-76=311 (+19) to finish T40 in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open.
