Connor Syme

His dad and also his coach, Stuart, is the PGA professional at Drumoig Golf Centre in Fife. He is also the immediate past captain of the PGA in Scotland.
Syme won the 2016 Australian amateur championship, was a semi-finalist in the 2014 Amateur Championship at the age of 18, and part of Scotland's winning sides in the 2015 and 2016 European Amateur Team Championships. He also qualified and played in the 2017 British Open. Syme shot rounds of 73-76 to miss the cut at Royal Birkdale. At the time said how amazing it was to be in The British Open and was thinking about that even though he was trying to stay in the moment. The first Open his dad (PGA professional Stuart) took him to was Troon in 2004, and he was buzzing after getting Phil Mickelson's ball at St. Andrews in 2005.
As an amateur, Syme won the 2016 Australian Amateur and was the medalist in the 2016 Amateur Championship at Royal Porthcawl and Kyle and Penfig Golf Club in Wales. He also represented Scotland in the 2016 World Amateur Team Championship and helped Scotland make a successful title defense in the 2016 European Team Championship.
Syme turned professional in 2017 after representing Great Britain & Ireland in the Walker Cup, and caught the eye during his first professional start at the Portugal Masters on the European Tour when he finished T-12th after carding four successive under-par rounds. Earned a spot on the European Tour for 2018 after finishing inside the top 25 at Qualifying School Final Stage at the end of 2017.
2018 Notes: Played in 26 European Tour events making 11 cuts with 1 top-ten finish, 2nd at the Shot Clock Masters. He was not able to keep his card as he earned euro247,453 and was 126th in the Race to Dubai.
2019 Notes: Is playing on both the European and Challenge Tour. On the European Tour, his best finish was T-15th at the Handa World Super 6 Perth. In 19 Challenge Tour starts, he made 13 cuts with six top-ten finishes. Was 14th on the Road to Mallorca with earnings of euro89,063. Won the Turkish Airlines Challenge
2020 Notes: Played in 23 DP World Tour events making 15 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. Was 65th in the Race to Dubai, with earnings of euro305,921. Best finishes, T-3rd at the Celtic Classic, three shots back of the winner Sam Horsfield. Also, T-4th at the Austrian Open, three shots back of the winner Marc Warren. The Scottish-born Syme earned his first U.S. Open start in 2020 by finishing ninth on the points list of the European Tour's five-event UK Swing. Missed the cut at Winged Foot. Ended his season with a T-36th finish at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
2021 Notes: Played in 24 DP World Tour events making 11 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 104th in the Race to Dubai, with earnings of euro249331. He was 3rd in the Magical Kenya Open, four shots back of the winner Justin Harding. He was T-5th at the Gran Canaria Lopesan Open.
2022 Notes: Played in 27 DP World Tour events making 19 cuts with five top-ten finishes. Was 28th in the Race to Dubai, earning euro907,861. Best finishes T-3rd at the Betfred British Masters, two shots back of winner Thorbjorn Olesen. Had back-to-back runner-up finishes and was 2nd at the Cazoo Open, four shots back of winner Callum Shinkwin. Next week he was T-2nd at the ISPS Handa World Invitational three shots back of the winner Ewen Ferguson. Ended his season with a T-12th finish at the DP World Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-10th at the Porsche European Open.
