Started playing golf at the age of 8 and credits her parents, sister, Charlie DeLucca and Jim McLean as the individuals who most influenced her career.
Married Erik Stevens on Dec. 9, 2006. Launched the "Birdies for Breast Cancer" program to raise funds to fight the disease her mother was diagnosed with in July of 2003. Her win at the 2006 CN Canadian Women's Open was inspired by a lucky quarter given to her by Al Eagleson, the husband of Barb Eagleson, who later died from breast cancer. Kerr donated $5,000 in their name, which they gave to the London Regional Cancer Center.
When she is not playing golf, her hobbies include cooking, wine collecting, fishing, watching movies and working out. Kerr admits the coolest thing golf has enabled her to do is travel the world, start her own wine label (Curvature) and be able to help others who are less fortunate. The profits of Curvature are entirely donated to breast cancer research. Said if she had a 60-second Super Bowl advertisement, she would want to show people the strides that have been made at the Cristie Kerr Women's Health Center at the Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center.
A three-time winner of the Florida State Junior Girls Championship (1993-95). In 1994, she captured the Junior Orange Bowl Classic, the Doral Publix Junior Classic, and the Women's Western Junior Championship. In 1995, was named the American Junior Golf Association Junior Player of the Year after winning the Harder Hall Women's Championship, the Women's Western Amateur Championship and the Florida State Women's Championship. In 1996, was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup Team and also won the South Atlantic Women's Amateur title. Low amateur at the 1996 U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C., where she finished T-36th.
In 1996, turned professional and competed in several events on the Futures Tour and Players West Tour. T-6th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to gain exempt status for the 1997 LPGA season.
In 1997, top finish was a T-15th at both the Star Bank LPGA Classic and the Fieldcrest Cannon Classic. Returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she was co-medalist with Se Ri Pak and earned exempt status for the 1998 LPGA season.
In 1998, best finish was T-4th at the State Farm Rail Classic.
In 1999, best finish was T-5th at both the City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic and the McDonald's LPGA Championship.
In 2000, T-2nd at both the Firstar LPGA Classic in conjunction with the Children's Medical Center and the U.S. Women's Open at The Merit Club in Gurnee, Ill.
In 2001, best finish was 3rd place at the LPGA Takefuji Classic, also T-3rd at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
In 2002, became a Rolex First-Time Winner with her wire-to-wire victory at the Longs Drugs Challenge. Was a member of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup Team and recorded the first hole-in-one of her LPGA career during the first round of the Sports Today CJ Nine Bridges Classic.
In 2003, best finish was a T-2nd at both the LPGA Takefuji Classic, where she crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings and the Michelob Light Open at Kingsmill. As a member of the U.S. Solheim Cup Team posted a 3-1-0 record.
In 2004, won her second LPGA title at the LPGA Takefuji Classic, where she led wire-to-wire but needed seven holes to defeat rookie Seo-Yeon Jeon in a sudden-death playoff, the longest on Tour since 1972. Won both the ShopRite LPGA Classic and the State Farm Classic with all rounds in the 60s. Finished second to Annika Sorenstam at the ADT Championship after a one-hole, sudden-death playoff. Crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, where she T-6th. Teamed with Juli Inkster and Grace Park to win the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, an unofficial event.
In 2005, won both the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill and the Wendy's Championship for Children. Crossed the $4 million mark in career earnings at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and captured the State Farm LPGA Series Bonus Pool with a second-place finish at the State Farm Classic. Made her third appearance on the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup Team, posting a 2-2-0 record.
In 2006, won the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic presented by SemGroup and fired a career-low 61 (-10) during the second round, which was the lowest round on Tour in 2006. Came from eight strokes back in the final round to win the CN Canadian Women's Open. Also won the Franklin American Mortgage Championship benefiting the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Had a career-high 19 top-10 finishes, received the LPGA Komen Award for donating more than $250,000 through her Birdies for Breast Cancer program toward breast cancer research. Crossed the $6 million mark in career earnings with her T-2nd at the Weetabix Women's British Open.
In 2007, won her first major championship at the U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines (N.C.) with a two-stroke victory over Lorena Ochoa and Angela Park. Crossed the $7 million mark in career earnings at the Ginn Tribute, where she finished 3rd. Made her fourth appearance at The Solheim Cup, where she scored 1 1/2 points for the victorious U.S. Team.
In 2008, won the Safeway Classic, where she defeated Helen Alfredsson and Sophie Gustafson in a one-hole, sudden-death playoff. Recorded 10 additional top-10 finishes, including a T-2nd at the Navistar Classic, where she and Candie Kung lost to Lorena Ochoa in a two-hole, sudden-death playoff, and 5th at the Wegmans LPGA, where she crossed the $1 million mark in season earnings.
In 2009, qualified for her fifth U.S. Solheim Cup Team, posting a 2-1-1 record for her winning squad. Won the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, the 12th victory of her career. T-2nd at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and T-3rd at the U.S. Women's Open at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa., the Evian Masters, and at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Finished 5th at both the MasterCard Classic and the Corona Championship. Crossed the $9 million mark in career earnings at the NSBC Women's Champions, where she T-11th.Ã?â??Ã? 
In 2010, became the first American to reach the Rolex Rankings No. 1 position on June 28. Spent five weeks in the top spot throughout the season finishing the year as Rolex Rankings No. 2. Recorded her second major championship and 13th LPGA victory with a record-breaking 12-stroke win at the LPGA Championship earned her 14th LPGA victory at the rain-delayed LPGA State Farm Classic. Recorded 11 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes in 21 starts and T-3rd at the Navistar LPGA Classic and the LPGA Tour Championship. T-4th at the season-opening Honda PTT LPGA Thailand and the Lorena Ochoa Invitational and Corona Light. Runner-up honors at the HSBC Women's Champions and T-2nd at the Safeway Classic.
In 2011, became the top American money winner in LPGA history, passing Juli Inkster for fourth on the LPGA Career Money List with $13,531,143l. Recorded 12 top-10 finishes, including three runner-ups, three third-place finishes and three fourth-place finishes, but failed to win at least one event for the first time since 2004. Top-10 finishes included: 2nd at the Sybase Match Play Championship and the LPGA State Farm Classic and a T-2nd at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, 3rd at the U.S. Women's Open, T-3rd at the Wegmans LPGA Championship and the Kia Classic, 4th at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, T-4th at the CN Canadian Women's Open, T-6th at the CME Group Titleholders, 8th at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship, and 9th at the HSBC Women's Champions. Competed on her sixth U.S. Solheim Cup Team with a 2-2-1 record.
2012 Notes: Played in 23 events, making 21 cuts. She had seven top-10 finishes including three top-5s, winning her 15th career victory at the 2012 Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Earned $837,314 placing 14th on the money list.
2013 Notes: Played in 19 events and made the cut 19 times, finishing 19th on the Tour money list with $710,946 in earnings. Had five top-10 finishes, including capturing her 16th career victory at the Kingsmill Championship. Competed on her seventh U.S. Solheim Cup Team and posted a 1-2-1 record.
2014 Notes: She was 15th on the LPGA money list with $911,883 and 24th in CME points after making 22 cuts in 24 starts with 11 top-10 finishes. She has been in the top 20 on the LPGA money list every year since 2002. She was second twice in 2014. She finished 2nd at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, shooting a final-round 63 (20-under 264 total), three strokes back of winner Inbee Park. It was her 20th runner-up finish on the LPGA Tour. Craig Castrale, the husband of (and caddie for) Nicole Castrale, caddied for Kerr at the Manulife because Kerr's regular caddie Australian Mark Wuersching had visa issues. After her first missed cut of the year at the U.S. Women's Open, Kerr was T-2nd at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, one shot back of winner Stacy Lewis.
2015 Notes: She won the Kia Classic and the CME Group Championship, giving her 18 LPGA victories. It was her first year with two LPGA wins since 2010. She finished 7th on the money list and 5th in CME points with 21 cuts made in 25 starts. She has been in the top 20 on the LPGA money list every year since 2002. She won the Kia Classic, shooting a tournament record 20-under 268 with a final-round 65 to beat Mirim Lee by two strokes. It was Kerr's first win as a mother (son, Mason, was born in Dec. 2013), and came just two weeks after the death of her caddie's father. Greg Johnston was Kerr's new caddie for 2015, and his father, Art, died two weeks before the Kia Classic. She was named to the U.S. Solheim Cup team for the eighth time and went 3-0-1 in the Matches. She teamed with Lexi Thompson for a 2-0-1 record, and beat Charley Hull, 3 and 2, in Sunday singles in the comeback victory by the Americans. She won the season-ending CME Group Championship by one shot over Ha Na Jang and Gerina Piller. Kerr shot four-under 68 on Sunday with an eagle on the 17th hole to give her a one-stroke lead.
2016 Notes: Played in 25 LPGA events, making 22 cuts and finishing in the top-10 four times. Her best finish was T-7th LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship. Was 39th on the money list with $456,215 and 33rd in CME points. Winner of the 2016 Charlie Bartlett Award by the Golf Writers Association of America, given to a player who contributes to the betterment of society through charitable giving. Most of the year playing with a knee injury, she had surgery in November to repair a meniscus tear.
2017 Notes: After a slow start from knee surgery, recovered strongly in the spring. Won the LOTTE Championship by three shots over Lydia Ko, In Gee Chun and Su Yeon Jang. The next week lost a playoff to Haru Nomura at the VOA Texas Shootout. Next start at the Citibanamex Lorena Ochoa Match Play lost in the quarterfinals in 19 holes to eventual runner-up Ariya Jutanugarn. Shot 67-66 over the weekend to finish 5th at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Was T-4th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, T-3rd at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open and won the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. Had 23 LPGA starts making the cut in 21 and finishing 7th on the money list with $1,414,752. She won the Ladies French Open on the Ladies European Tour, shooting a final-round 69 to beat Xi Yu Lin by four shots. Also made the U.S. Solheim Cup team for the ninth time, she was 3-0-1 in the U.S. victory, including a 2-and-1 win over Mel Reid in singles.
2018 Notes: Played in 22 LPGA Tour events making 20 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was T-2nd at the Kia Classic, two back of winner Eun-Hee Ji. Kerr had a five-shot lead after shooting 67-64 in the first two rounds but shot 75-68 over the weekend. T-9th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Had season earnings of $426,981 which ranked 51st, was 44th in the Race to CME. She was a member of the United States team in the UL International Crown and was 3-1-0 as the U.S. finished second in the matches. The Kerrs had their second child, son Griffin, on August 28.
2019 Notes: T-10th at the Honda LPGA Thailand and Bank of Hope Founders Cup. Also, T-9th at the Pure Silk Championship.
