Danny Briggs

Daniel (Danny) Briggs was a three-time All-American at Texas A&M University. Recently inducted into the Texas A&M Sports Hall of Fame. Won the Southwest Conference title in 1982. Played tours in Asia and Canada after turning pro; Payne Stewart talked him into going to Asia in 1985-86. Also played on the PGA Tour in 1986, '88, '99, 2000, '04 and '05. Played a total of 173 events making 72 cuts. He had five top-tens, best finish was T-3rd in the 1986 Tallahassee Open. In his six years on the PGA Tour never made it into the top-150 of the money list, best year was 1986 when he finished 156th with $35,308 in earnings. For his 173 starts earned $916,591.
Member at the Golf Club of Tennessee and The Silverleaf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he lived for 18 years. Played in two U.S. Amateurs. He loves music, and one of his best friends is country singer, Vince Gill, who has caddied for him in the past. Plays golf regularly with the members from country band Rascal Flatts. Plays the BMW Charity Pro-Am on the Web.com Tour every year with several of the members of Rascal Flatts. Married for over 25 years and has five children. His son-in-law is Brett Jacobson, a major league pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. Has taken lessons from Jim Flick, Hank Haney and Virgil Herron, among others.
Briggs joined the Middle Tennessee State University golf squad in 2015 as an assistant coach. Before the qualifier at the Brentwood Country Club, the second-year Blue Raiders coach had not played a competitive round of golf in about a year.
