David Oakley

David won his third European Seniors Tour event in three seasons when he captured the 2001 Energis Senior Masters at Wentworth Club and he then won for a second time in the season when he defeated England's Keith MacDonald in a play-off for the Scottish Seniors Open at The Roxburghe Club near Kelso. The American makes a habit of producing spectacular performances. In 1999 he won his maiden title by six shots at the MDIS & Partners Festival of Golf at Mill Ride and during 2000 he set a new Seniors Tour record when he posted a 17 under par total of 196 while winning the De Vere Hotels Seniors Classic at Ferndown. Last season he continued in much the same vein setting a new course record of 65 at The Roxburghe and finishing three ahead of the field at Wentworth Club. Nicknamed "The Oak", David played in Europe, Asia, Canada and America from 1970-1976 then spent ten years as a hotel liquidator and nine more as a furniture store manager. He returned to professional golf in 1994 and qualified for the US Senior Tour in 1997. David's brother, Peter, is also a golf professional. He made it through to the US Senior Tour's final Qualifying School but did not earn a card.
