David Park

Made a phenomenal start to his European Tour career by leading from the start in the 1999 Moroccan Open, only to miss out to Miguel Angel Martin at the sixth hole of a sudden-death play-off. The following week he was not to be denied, winning the Compaq European Grand Prix in only his second outing on The European Tour. Born in London of Welsh parents, started the game after watching his father play. Earned Walker Cup honours in 1997 before turning professional later that year. Coached by Welshman David Llewellyn, winner of the World Cup alongside Ian Woosnam and one of the few players to have shot 60 in a European Tour event. Went on to finish 40th in the Volvo Order of Merit from just 15 starts in his rookie season and represented Wales along with Phillip Price in the World Cup of Golf. Struggled in 2001, occupying 135th place on the Volvo Order of Merit, but came 14th at the Qualifying School Finals.
