Emma Talley

Became the first woman from the University of Alabama to win the U.S. Women's Amateur following her 2013 win at the Country Club of Charleston, defeating Yueer Cindy Feng, 2 and 1, in the 36-hole final.
Was a member of the victorious USA Team at the 2014 Curtis Cup Match. Talley's 4-and-3 singles victory over Bronte Law clinched the victory.
Was the nation's No. 1 recruit for 2012 by Golfweek coming out of Caldwell County High School. Had a spectacular junior golf career where she won three individual Kentucky State Championships and was named 2008 Kentucky Miss Golf. Featured in a 2009 Sports Illustrated 'Faces in the Crowd' section. Set an AJGA record in 2010 by winning the Huntsville Junior with an 18-under-par total of 198 and was a member of the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup Team. Won 10 AJGA events and holds the record for largest margin of victory with 22 strokes. Set another AJGA record with four consecutive victories in 2011 at the AJGA Girls Championship, the AJGA Franklin Junior, the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior, and the AJGA Junior at Quad Cities. Finished seventh at the 2011 Junior PGA Championship. Was named a 2011 First-Team Rolex Junior All-American and qualified for the 2011 U.S. Women's Open and the PING Junior Solheim Cup team. Ranked No. 3 in the class of 2012 Polo Junior Golf Rankings. Made the cut and finished tied for 46th at the 2012 U.S. Open. Had played in the U.S. Girls' Junior in 2011 (round of 32), 2010 (round of 64), 2009 (round of 32), 2008 (round of 16), and 2006 and is a four-time Rolex Junior All-American.
Committed to play her college golf at the University of Alabama and finished second on the team with a 73 scoring average while starting all events as a true freshman. Was named the SEC Freshman of the Year, second-team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman, and garnered second-team All-America honors from the WGCA and third-team honors from Golfweek. Won her first career medalist honor at the 2013 PING/ASU Invitational with a career-low 9-under par 207 that included rounds of 68, 69, and 70 for a two-shot win. Tied for fourth at the NCAA East Regional Championship at the Auburn University Club and finished T23 at the NCAA Championships with a 6-over total of 294. Ended her freshman season ranked 25th in the final Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and 32nd in the Golfstat Cup. In 2014, she was runner-up at the NCAA Central Regional after rounds of 68-75-71 and finished 38th at the NCAA Division 1 Championships.
In her junior season, captured the individual NCAA Championship title with a one-stroke lead over Arkansas' Gaby Lopez and Duke's Leona Maguire. She was named a first-team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association and the second team All-SEC for the third consecutive year. She posted seven top-10 finishes, with three top-five individual finishes. In her senior season, she earned the win at the Liz Murphey Collegiate, winning 5-and-4 against UCLA's Hadas Libman. She posted four top-15 finished and secured third place at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Championship.
Daughter of Dan and Jennifer Talley and has two brothers, Joe and Jackson, and a sister Leigh. Majored in communications at Alabama. Says her grandpa was a huge influence in her life and that she's the only one in her family who plays golf.
2014 Notes: Played in the Kraft Nabisco and then made the cut in the U.S. Women's Open (63rd) and the Ladies British Open, finishing as the low amateur at Royal Birkdale with a T-17th finish. Missed the cut at the Wegmans LPGA Championship.
2015 Notes: T-48th at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic and T-60th at the U.S. Women's Open
2016 Notes: Turned professional following her collegiate career and joined the Symetra Tour. She finished the season 26th on the money list.
2017 Notes: Finished 9th on the Symetra Tour money list to earn an LPGA membership for the 2018 season. Played in 21 events missing only two cuts and capturing a win at the Island Resort Championship, one of her eight top-10 finishes.
2018 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA Tour events making 21 cuts with four top-ten finishes. Was 52nd on the money list with $421,287 and was 63rd in the Race to CME. Best was T-3rd at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Finished T-5th at the Hugel-JTBC LA Open, 6 back of winner Moriya Jutanugarn. Also, T-5th at the Marathon Classic 3 shots back of the Suwannapura/Lincicome playoff.
2019 Notes: Played in 23 LPGA Tour events making 11 cuts. Was 103rd on the money list with $117,236 in earnings and 104th on the CME points list. Best finish T-11th at the Marathon Classic. Earned LPGA Tour status for 2020 by a T-6th in the 2019 LPGA Q-Series.
2020 Notes: Played in 16 LPGA Tour events making 9 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 71st on the money list with $146,423 in earnings, Talley was 67th on the CME points list. Her best finish was T-5th at the Marathon Classic, she was seven shots back of winner Danielle Kang. But overall, the year was a struggle. In both 2018 and '19, she made swing changes to gain distance, which didn't work out as her swing got more unreliable. So at the end of the year went back to her old coach Todd Trimble to go back to the way it was in 2018.
2021 Notes: Played in 23 LPGA Tour events making 11 cuts with two top-ten finishes. Was 61st on the CME Points list and 70th on the money list earning $262,788. Started the season missing five straight cuts, but things got progressively better, and she was T-4th at the Volunteers of America Classic. Shot a final round 63 to close within four shots of the winner Jin Young Ko. At the ISPS Handa World Womans in Northern Ireland, opened up with rounds of 67-65 to lead after 36 holes. Talley shot 73 in the third round to co-lead. The final round took the lead after making five birdies on the front nine, but three bogies on the back had to birdie the 17th to get a tie with Pajaree Anannarukarn. But in the playoff, Talley made bogey on the second hole to give the title to Anannarukarn. Ended her season T-49th at the CME Group Tour Championship. But the positive, all the work with Trimble and a new sports psychologist has put her in a much better position to succeed in the future.
2022 Notes: Was T-9th at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play, she lost in the round of 16 to Madelene Sagstrom 4 & 2. Has been involved with raising money for her hometown of Princeton, Ky. that was devastoted by tornadoes on December 10th of 2021.
