George Roat

Began playing golf at age 4 when his mother taught him the game. He quickly became an avid golfer and enjoyed a brief professional career, but became a reinstated amateur in 1982.
Competed in the 1995 and 2000 U.S. Amateur, as well as the 2012 Senior Amateur, but failed to make the cut. He also competed in the 2012 Florida mid-Amateur, placing 17th.
Also a two-time member of the Florida state team in the Southeast Challenge Cup, as well as a two-time member of the victorious team in the Florida Club Team Championship.
In 2001, he competed in Golfweek's Challenge of Champions, placing 22nd. In 2004, he placed 6th in Golfweek's Orlando Championships, in the Championship division. In 2007, he placed 48th in the Stocker Cup.
Six-time participant in the Gasparilla Invitational, his best finish a runner-up in 2002. Only placed out of the top-25 once in these appearances, notching a 9th in 2006, 15th in 2004, 18th in 2005, and most recently a 22nd in 2013.
He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida State Golf Association. When not golfing, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathleen.
