Advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur. Reached the round of 16 in the 2007 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links. Winner of the Korean Song AM Cup, Korea Junior Championship and Thailand Junior Championship.
Finished T-42nd at the 2007 Korea Women's Open as a 12-year-old and won the Callaway Junior World Championships by 10 shots in the same year. Finished 2nd in the stroke-play portion of the 2007 U.S. Girls' Junior. Lost in the semifinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur.
Jang had a superlative 2009 season. She won the World Golf Championship that summer by six shots. In the fall, she played in two KLPGA Majors, and found herself in contention in both of them. At the Hite Cup, she finished 3rd behind winner Hee Kyung Seo. At the year's final major, the KB Star Tour Grand Final, she duked it out with Seo until the bitter end. In the end, Jang lost by a shot to Seo, the KLPGA's top player.
She turned pro early in 2010 and played mostly mini-tours. At the end of the season, she attended KLPGA Q-School and easily earned a card for 2011. In her very first event as a KLPGA member, she contended for the win and notched a top-10 finish. She had three top-10 finishes, with her best result being a 3rd at the S-OIL Champions. She finished 32nd on the tour's money list.
The 2012 season included a 4th place at the Rush & Cash Classic, then a 3rd at the Hite Cup, the year's third major. At the year's last major, the KB Financial, she finally got her first win. She wound up 10th on the money list for 2012, with ~258 million won earned, mostly due to five top-10s.
In 2013, Jang collected three wins and made nearly 690 million won, coming close to beating Jiyai Shin's all-time record for most money made in a single season. She also won her first Player of the Year award and had 13 total top-10s, most of which were top-5s.
2014 Notes: Jang had a 14th place finish at the LPGA HSBC Women's Championship, T-3rd at The Evian Championship. She would make the cut in every event she qualified in in the U.S., including a T-35th at the 2014 U.S. Women?s Open.
2015 Notes: In her first full season on the LPGA Tour, she made 21 cuts in 24 events, earning $883,032 in the process, 15th on the money list. She finished 4th in Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year standings and finished 2nd on four occasions. She was T-2nd at the season- opening Coates Golf Championship, one back of winner Na Yeon Choi. She had her second runner-up finish with a playoff loss to Chella Choi at the Marathon Classic. She had her third runner-up finish of the year with a T-2nd at the Cambia Portland Classic, eight shots back of winner Brooke Henderson. She was T-2nd at the CME Group Championship, one shot back of Cristie Kerr. Jang was the 54-hole co- leader with Kerr and shot 69 Sunday to Kerr?s 68.
2016 Notes: She was T-11th at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic. In the third round, she made the first hole in one on a par-4 hole in LPGA history when she aced the eighth hole with a 3-wood from 218 yards. Two months later Minjee Lee made the second ace on a par 4 at the Kia Classic. Jang won the Coates Golf Championship for her first LPGA title, shooting 11-under 277 to beat Brooke Henderson by two shots. A month later she won a second title at the HSBC Women?s Champions, it was Jang?s second win in four starts and her fourth straight top-10 finish. Prior to the HSBC Women?s Champions, Jang?s father, Chang Ho Jang, lost control of a carry-on bag at Singapore?s Changi Airport. The bag went crashing down an escalator and struck In Gee Chun in the back, injuring muscles around Chun?s tailbone and forcing her to withdraw from the HSBC Champions. Jang and Chun are both competing for a spot on the South Korean Olympic Golf team.
