His father, Jim Delsing, was an MLB outfielder for the Yankees, White Sox, Tigers, St. Louis Browns and Kansas City A's. Even though Delsing loved baseball, he took up golf at 14 because he wanted to play a non-team sport. He was an outstanding prep basketball player, but UCLA recruited him for golf. Delsing played on the same team with Corey Pavin and Steve Pate. After receiving his bachelor's degree in economics, he played the mini-tours, until he qualified to play on the PGA Tour in 1985. His early years on tour were a struggle and poor seasons in 1988 and 1989 sent him back to Qualifying School, where he had to re-qualify to play the Tour. Played full-time on the PGA Tour between 1985 and 2009. In that time, he only finished in the top-125 of the money list six times. Played a total of 565 events, making 276 cuts. His best finish was second at the 1993 New England Classic and 1995 FedEx St. Jude. Had 30 top-10s, earning $3,608,666.
Played 117 times on the Web.Com Tour, made 55 cuts, had nine top-10 finishes and won twice. He tried to qualify for the Champions Tour, in November 2010, but finished T23rd; he withdrew in 2013; and T-50th in 2014. He has only played in six PGA Tour events, posting a best finish T-10th in his only 2014 start at the Quebec Championship.
