He also won the Tri-State PGA Senior Player of the year honors in 2015 and 2014, was Golf Professional of the Year in 2013, won the MacKay Trophy for low scoring average in 2012 with a scoring average of 70.3, and won the Bill Strausbaugh award for mentoring other PGA Golf Professionals in 2008. Prior to this, Joe was the First Assistant Golf Professional at the Pittsburgh Field Club from 1989 to 1997. During this tenure, he won the Pennsylvania Open, the Tri-State PGA Assistant Player of the Year Honors and the Tri-State PGA McKay Trophy for Low Scoring Average with an average of 69.5. In 1988, he played on the Mini Tour and tried to qualify for the PGA Tour, which he missed by only two strokes
