Joe Palmer

Began playing the game of golf around the age of 12 and credits his parents for introducing him to the game. Says his most memorable golf experience was playing 18 holes at Cypress Point and winning some of the Iowa's major amateur tournaments. He and wife Margaret have three kids: Claire, Ross and Max. Is the owner of five Palmer's Deli & Market stores. When he's not golfing, enjoys spending time with his family at their lake home, water activities and Iowa Hawkeyes athletics.
Played four years of collegiate golf at Iowa and has played on eight Cupmatch teams in Iowa. Has enjoyed a successful amateur golf career that includes being a six-time runner-up at the Iowa State Match Play Championship and earning runner-up honors at the Iowa State Amateur in 2005. Owns two victories at the Des Moines City Championship, one in 2000 and another in 2004. Won the 2004 Iowa Mid-Amateur along with the 2013 Iowa Senior Amateur and Match Play. Won the 2014 Fort Dodge Amateur after a two-day total of 139 and made it to the quarterfinals of the Iowa State Match Play. He also just won the Iowa Senior Amateur in his first attempt after shooting a three-day total of 3-over-par 216.
