Shot 69 and earned medalist honors at the Fort Worth, Texas, sectional to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open.
Finished runner-up at the 2009 USGA Senior Amateur, where he was defeated by Vinny Giles in the final, 1 up, at Beverly Country Club in Chicago, Ill. Has played in more than 35 USGA championships, including the 1998 U.S. Senior Open, where he tied for 38th, and the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, where he finished 68th. Runner-up at the 1974 U.S. Amateur, falling to Jerry Pate in the final, 2 and 1, at Ridgewood (N.J.) Country Club. Member of the 1975 USA Walker Cup Team that won 15.5-8.5 over Great Britain and Ireland at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland; went 2-1, winning both of his singles matches. Won the 1994 Texas Amateur. Four-time winner of the Texas Mid-Amateur. Inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Works in real estate. Enjoys fly fishing.
