Magdalena Simmermacher

Magdalena, also known as 'Maggie', was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the third of four kids and the first in the family to study abroad. She played golf from the age of four. She grew up part of the time at the family farm, where she enjoyed riding horses and working with cows, sheep, and pigs. Her family lives at a country club where they can practice several sports. From an early age, her parents encouraged their kids to play as many sports as possible. They believed in team and individual sports' core values and wanted their children to build their own character and personality through companionship and leadership. She liked to play tennis, field hockey, polo, and many other sports. Her love for field hockey was greater so she played full-time for a well-known club in Buenos Aires and represented Argentina at the ADE in South Africa in 2011. At the age of 13, she decided to switch her goal of being a "Leona" (player on the National Argentine Team) to becoming a professional golfer and winning on the LET and LPGA Tour. Throughout her amateur career, she represented her home club on several occasions at National tournaments in the U15 and U18 age categories. She won several National Championships between 2012 and 2017, including the Argentine National Ranking 2013/2014. Simmermacher represented Argentina at three World Amateur Team Championships, four South American Individual Championships, and five 'Copa Los Andes' being champions in 2017.
Simmermacher studied at a bilingual school all her childhood which helped her develop English skills from an early age. At the age of 18, Maggie emigrated to the US with a full scholarship to study at Old Dominion University and represent her university by playing golf. In Argentina, there are no possibilities to do both things at the same time. Her best option to continue playing golf and finish her student career with a degree was to study in the US. In 2018, she graduated with a degree in International Business and a minor in Economics. Played on the team all four years and earned Freshman of the Year 2014/2015 and Conference USA Player of the Year 2017/2018. With her team, they claimed the Conference USA Championships in 2017.
In March 2019, she decided to turn professional and chase her dream of winning on tour. She started contacting people in Europe and asking for invitations to gain experience as a professional and start her journey. Her options were small because there are no tours or professional tournaments in Argentina or South America. Her eagerness made her take the step and travel to Europe for new horizons. She went with six weeks planned and ended up staying six months playing on the LET Access Series, Santander Golf Tour, and Swedish Golf Tour. Good results in her first tournaments helped her earn status after the reshuffle and play the rest of the season. She managed to get two invitations to Dual LET/LETAS events and an invitation into the Estrella Damm Mediterranean Ladies Open, where she finished 17th. Currently ranked 388 on the Rolex World Golf Rankings as the best Argentine Professional Golfer and ninth in Latin America. At Q-School 2020, She finished second and earned full status with Category 5c for the Ladies European Tour in 2020.
