Marion Dantzler

Dantzler played on mini-tours after finishing at Georgia Southern. His biggest professional victory was defeating Gary Nicklaus in a TC Jordan event in a playoff. Gary's father, Jack, an 18-time major champion, was caddieing for him.
Dantzler qualified for the 2014 SAS Championship on the Champions Tour. The following week, he lost in a playoff to compete in the Champions Tour Greater Hickory Classic.
Twice in the 1990s, he narrowly missed qualifying for the U.S. Open. On one occasion, Gary Koch holed a 7-iron on the 18th hole to knock him out. The other time, he bogeyed the 36th hole to miss by one shot.
He has played with several celebrities, including actor Anthony Anderson, sports announcer Brent Musburger and South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier. In 2009, Dantzler was featured on Golf Channel's "Golf in America" in a segment titled "The Road Less Traveled."
In 2015, qualified for his first U.S. Senior Open and finished T-60th. He was T-54th in the 2018 SAS Championship.
