Shot 71 at the Pasadena, Calif., sectional and didn't think he had a chance to qualify as he was in the first group out. Almost left the course, but went back to check on his position, and ended up being in a 3-man playoff for the first alternate spot. Later got into the 2012 U.S. Senior Open field.
Started playing golf at 7. Turned 50 two weeks before the qualifier. This is his first USGA event. Dreamed of playing in USGA events since he began playing. Played on several mini-tours in California. Played in numerous California State Championships. One of his favorite moments in golf was the inaugural tournament in his hometown, the Avila Beach Amateur. He ended up winning the tournament and defeating Jason Gore by 10 strokes. Home course is the Avila Beach Golf Course. Played against Bobby Clampett and Dan Forsman in high school, and looked up to both of them. Played with Tiger Woods when Tiger was 12 years old. Friends with Rudy Duran, Tiger's first golf coach. Is married to wife, Karen. Loves to read, watch movies and listen to music. Enjoys all sports, and is a huge Lakers and Dodgers fan.
Went to the same high school as Loren Roberts and used to get lessons from Roberts when he was young.
