Mickey DeMorat

DeMorat started playing golf at the age of 7 and just recently finished his senior season at Liberty University, where he was a member of the Flames' men's golf team. In his junior golf career, DeMorat placed fourth at the 98th Florida Amateur Men's Championships and earned a top-20 finish at the 2015 Southern Amateur Championship. He advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2016 Western Amateur Championship.
He began his collegiate career at the Eastern Florida State College, where he earned All-American honors and finished the season as the No. 2 ranked NJCAA player in the country. He finished runner-up at the NJCAA National Championship, helping Eastern Florida State to earn national runner-up honors.
DeMorat transferred to Liberty for the 2015-16 season. In his sophomore season, he was a Big South All-Conference selection and posted five top-10 finishes. He helped the Flames capture the Big South title with a seventh-place finish at the conference tournament. DeMorat was a Big South All-Conference selection for the second consecutive year, as well as a Big South All-Championship honoree after finishing T-4th at the conference tournament. He was named to the 2017 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar listing, becoming the 12th golfer in program history to be named to golf's top collegiate academic team.
As a senior, DeMorat earned All-Big South first-team honors and was again named to the Big South All-Championship team following a runner-up finish at the conference tournament. He posted three top-five finishes and was named to the PING All-Region team.
He has previously competed in the 2016 U.S. Amateur, where he missed the cut.
DeMorat turned professional just days after qualifying for the U.S. Open.
