Miriam Nagl

Miriam Nagl was born in Curitiba Brazil and holds a dual German-Brazilian Nationality. The family lived in Curitiba, Brazil until Miriam was eight years old. They moved to Schwaebisch Hall in late 1989, a small town in the South of Germany. While attending school in Braunsbach, Germany Miriam tried herself in various sports and was an active soccer player within a boys team.
Miriam?s father bought a company in 1991 in the heart of East-Berlin after the wall fell. They moved to Berlin and Miriam began playing golf together with her brother Michael at the age of 10. Miriam improved her game in her first few years as a junior to a degree where she was asked to join the German National Team in 1994. One of her highlights during this time was to participate in the Junior Ryder Cup in 1995, where the Continental team ended up winning the competition.
After completing 10th grade at a Gymnasium in Berlin she decided to attend a boarding school on the West coast of Florida, the David Leadbetter Junior Academy for her future golf development. She would spend the next two years at the Academy and earned her High school diploma in 1999. Her game and results were impressing the college coaches while playing on the AJGA circuit that she received a full scholarship to attend Arizona State University. Besides training with the Sun Devils golf team, her focus in her studies was in International Business. After a very successful freshman year at ASU she decided pursue her dream and turned professional in 2001.
She moved back to Sarasota, Florida and began her career on the LPGA Futures Tour.
In her second season on the Futures Tour she finished 3rd on the Money list and earned her full playing rights for the 2003 season on the LPGA. As it stands out, she shot a 63 in one of her final rounds on the Futures Tour to win her first professional tournament in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
2003 Notes: First season on the LGPA Tour she played in 24 events and made 13 cuts. Her best was 10th at the LPGA Williams Championship and a T-11th place at the LPGA Shoprite Classic in Atlantic City. See finished 79th on the money list with $98,284.
2004 Notes: Played in 22 events making nine cuts, best finish was T-27th at the Takefuji Classic and ShopRite LPGA Classic. At the end of the year Miriam had played two seasons on Tour. She felt an urge to return to Europe for a season and participated in the Ladies European Qualifying School. She won the tournament on her first attempt and hence earned her full card for the LET.
2005 Notes: Was a great year for Miriam on Tour, she started in 24 tournaments between the LPGA and LET Tour. Seven of those she played in Europe where she had her best finish; a 2nd at the Tenerife Spanish Ladies Open. She also had a T-6th on the LPGA at the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic. In the end she finished 32nd on the LET Order of Merit and 86th on the LPGA Tour thus earning her full playing rights for both Tours.
2006 Notes: Miriam played both Tours, even though she focused most of her attention on the LPGA. She started her season with two highlights. In January she represented Germany with Anja Monke at the Women?s World Cup in South Africa where they finished in 9th place. Her best finish to date on the LPGA Tour came at the SBS Championship where Miriam finished in 5th place. She played in 21 events and made 15 cuts finishing 76th on the money list.
2007 Notes: Miriam was involved in a skiing accident while travelling with her family and boyfriend in Europe. She tore some ligaments in her right knee and entered rehabilitation after undergoing surgery in Vail, Colorado. After recovering from the rehabilitation, Miriam participated in only four events on the LPGA Tour making the cut in just two.
2008 Notes: Miriam returned to the LPGA Tour, but didn?t compete well during the season. She found it diffuclt to come right back after the injury. She played 14 times and didn't cash a check, losing her Tour card and started to participate in some events on the Ladies European Tour again. She enjoyed spending some time at home in 2009 after separating from her long time boyfriend in the U.S.
She returned to Florida to train in 2010 and played two full seasons on the LPGA Futures Tour in 2010/2011. She was able to have multiple top 10 finishes while playing on the LPGA Futures Tour.
2012 Notes: Miriam participated in the LET Qualfiying Tournament once again. She finished in 31st place and was able to attain a Tour card for the Ladies European Tour. She was excited to be able to live near home and play on the Ladies European Tour again. Her best finishes during that season included a 16th place at the Turkish Ladies Open, an 18th place at the Ladies Irish Open, a 20th place at the Prague Ladies Open, a 2nd place at the British Open qualifier, 35th at the Ladies Swiss Open and a 34th place at the Ladies Tenerife Open. During the same year Miriam started dating her boyfriend Jan Pomplun with whom she lives at their house on the North side of Berlin. Miriam is close to her family and started to have the desire to have a family of her own.
2013 Notes: She played in nine LET tournaments with her best result T-9th at the weather-shortened South African Women?s Open. She equalled her career low round of 67 during round one of the Honma Pilsen Golf Masters.
2014 Notes: Miriam became pregnant in the spring. She managed to still make the cut at the Ladies German Open 2014 while being four months pregnant, she played in seven LET tournaments with her best finish of the season at the Deloitte Ladies Open where she came T-25th. During her pregnancy Miriam had some talks with the Brazilian Golf Federation and decided to commence playing for Brazil in 2015 with the possibility of participating at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
2015 Notes: Miriam gave birth to her daughter Laura Emilia Nagl on January 27th, 2015. The recovery process went well and she started playing again in May of 2015 in order to keep her hopes up to qualify for the Olympic Games. She finished 42nd in her first event back on the Ladies European Tour since pregnancy in Belek, Turkey. For the year she played in six LET tournaments and had her best event at the Pilsen Golf Masters, where she finished T-14th.
For leisure Miriam enjoys spending time with her daughter, friends and family, listening to music, swimming, gardening, fishing and practicing the Guitar.
