Monte Scheinblum

Scheinblum spent several years of his childhood in Japan, where his father played professional baseball for the Hiroshima Carp towards the end of his career. Monte is the son of former Major League Baseball All-Star (1972) outfielder Richie Scheinblum. Monte attended Villa Park High School in Orange County, Calif., where he was a standout pitcher on the baseball team.
He aspired to follow in his father's footsteps until a major elbow injury forced him to give up baseball for golf. After playing golf at UCLA, Scheinblum turned professional and played on the Web.Com Tour
While competing on the Web.Com Tour, he became known for his long-distance driving. In 1992, he won the National Long Driving Championship as well as the World Long Drive Championship. On the Web.Com Tour played full time in 1993 and '94, he played in 44 events making 15 cuts with one top-ten finish, T-5th at the 1994 Monterrey Open.
He now works as a golf instructor online and in-person. He offers paid instructional videos, online and in-person golf lessons, and instructional clinics throughout the US and beyond. As an instructor, he has worked with several tour professionals and elite amateurs. Scheinblum is competing in his first U.S. Senior Open.
