Nanci Bowen

Started playing golf at the age of 8. Bowen won the Georgia Girls State Junior Championship from 1981-84. In 1987, she was a semifinalist at the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and in 1988 won the Trans-National Championship. As an amateur, she qualified to play in five U.S. Women's Opens. Bowen played collegiate golf at the University of Georgia, where she was a two-time All-American, runner-up at the 1987 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship and finished sixth at the 1989 NCAA Championship.
At the end of 1990, originally qualified for the Tour at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she finished T6 to earn exempt status for the 1991 season.
She played on the LPGA Tour between 1991 and 2005. In 304 starts she made the cut 175 times and was in the top 10 14 times. Bowen won once at the 1995 Nabisco Dinah Shore. She won by a shot over Susie Kirk. 1995 was her biggest year on the LPGA as she was T3 the next week at the Pinewild Women's Championship and won $228,137 on the money list, placing her 25th. In her 14-year career, she earned $1,176,039.
Her career wrapped in 2005 when she shifted her focus to instruction, including not only the swing but also the mental game. Through her career, Bowen worked with sports psychologist Dr. Deborah Graham, who has trained her in the same beneficial practices. Bowen also meets with students at Furman University Golf Club in Greenville, S.C., where she works with juniors and adults on the course because she believes it is more fun to go learn through different situations.
Her home state recognized her in 2016 for her accomplishments in the game, inducting her to the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.

Bowen shot 80-75-78-73=306 (+14) to finish T28 in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open.
