Paula Reto

She played field hockey and ran track in South Africa. When her father got an engineering job in Coral Springs, Fla., the family moved to the United States. Reto's mother would drive her to Miami to practice with an Argentinean field hockey team. Unfortunately, she injured her knee during a tournament, ending her field hockey career at age 15. After she got recovered, she took up golf at the age of 16 and went to the course with her father. She loved the game and wanted to play like her idols, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel. While in high school, her game got better, and she made the golf team. With more work, her game improved to the point where she earned a golf scholarship to Purdue, which won the NCAA title her freshman season in 2010 and finished second the next year. She played the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur and was beaten by Lydia Ko in the quarterfinals.
2013 Notes: She turned pro after graduating with a degree in pre-law, she made seven starts on the Symetra Tour and finished 33rd on that tour's money list, including a season-best 3rd at the Symetra Tour Championship. Finished T-13th at the 2013 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn Priority List Category 12 for the 2014 LPGA Tour season.
2014 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA events making 9 cuts with 2 top-10 finishes. Best was 3rd at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. Was 77th on the money list with $154,880.
2015 Notes: Played in 22 events making 8 cuts. Her best finish was T-13th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Finished 88th on the money list with $102,187.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA events making 19 cuts. She had 2 top-tens and finished T-9th at the COATES Golf Championship and the JTBC Founder Cup. She was 74th on the money list with $224,371 and 69th in CME points. Was T-16th at the Rio Olympics as a South Africa's golf team member.
2017 Notes: Played in 23 LPGA events making 6 cuts, Best finish T-15th Manulife LPGA Classic, she finished 131st on the money list losing her LPGA Tour card. But finished 3rd at the LPGA Q-School to regain her card.
2018 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA Tour events making 5 cuts. Best finish T-21st at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA. She finished 143rd on the money list with $29,669 in earnings.
2019 Notes: Played in 5 LPGA Tour events and didn't make a cut. Played in 18 Symetra Tour events making 7 cuts with one top-ten. She was 63rd on the money list with $17,756 in earnings. Best finish was T-2nd at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship.
2020 Notes: Played in 9 events on the Symetra Tour, making 7 cuts, finishing 31st on the money list with $14,661. Best finish T-6th at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship. Played in three LPGA Tour events, best finish T-28th at the LPGA Drive on Championship Toledo.
2021 Notes: Played in 18 LPGA events making 13 cuts with one top-ten finish. Shot a final round 65 to finish T-7th at the ShopRite Classic, four shots back of winner Celine Boutier. She was supposed to participate in the Toyko Olympics but got COVID at the Evina Championship, forcing her to withdraw from that event and then the Olympics.
2022 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA Tour events, making 19 cuts with four top-ten finishes. She was 34th on the money list with $808,130 in earnings and was 31st in CME points. Was T-9th at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play, she lost in the Round of 16 to Ayaka Furue 2 & 1. Reto won for the first time on the LPGA Tour at the CP Women?s Open in her 157th start. Reto shot 62 in the first round. She was one shot off the lead after 54 holes before making five birdies on the front nine Sunday to take a four-shot lead. She fought off a late challenge by Nelly Korda by making par on her last four holes of the week to win by one shot. She was T-3rd at the LPGA Mediheal Championship, two shots back of the winner Jodi Ewart Shadoff. She finished T-54th in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: Opened the season with a T-6th finish at the Hilton Tournament of Champions. Was T-9th at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational with parter with Amelia Lewis.
