Philip Jonas

Jonas most recently was named 2017 PGA British Columbia Player of the year and became the 2017 PGA British Columbia Professional Club Champion.
Philip Jonas, who shot 3-under 69, was the only player in the field to shoot under par at his sectional qualifying site. Jonas is a Canada PGA professional who runs, with his wife Patty (a two-time BC Women's Amateur champion), the Jonas Golf Academy. Named the PGA of British Columbia Teacher of the Year in 2012.
Became the first-ever repeat champion in 2016 at the PGA of B.C. Seniors' Championship presented by My Turn Health and Fitness Inc. when he successfully defended his 2015 title. Joined European Senior Tour for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. In his debut season last year, he had three top-10 finishes in 13 events and finished 39th on the money list. He was the PGA of BC Player of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2007.
While playing on the PGA Tour Canada he carded two wins, at the 2000 Quebec Tel Open and the 1999 Alliant Cup. Won the 1996 and 1997 Peru Opens while on the PGA Tour Latin American. Won the 1990 Goodyear Classic while playing on the South African Tour.
Had a successful youth golf career. Was the 1974 Junior World Champion in the 11/12 age group and 1976 Junior World Champion in the 13/14 age group. Leading International Player at Junior World five times. Won the South African Junior Championships in 1976, 1978, and 1979.
Amateur Achievements include being named a member of the South Africa World Amateur Team in 1980. He won 7 Division I collegiate tournaments while attending Lamar University (1982-1986) in Texas. In his 1996 senior year, Jonas was named first-team All-American.
