Rick Cloninger

Shot a 66 and was medalist at the Greensboro, N.C., sectional to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open.
Also played in the 2008 U.S. Senior Open at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, where he finished 40th. Has played in 10 USGA championships, including the U.S. Amateur (1994, 2003), U.S. Mid-Amateur (1995, 2001, 2010), USGA Men's State Team Championship (1995, 1999, 2001, 2007) and the 2008 U.S. Senior Open. Advanced to the round of 16 in the 2010 U.S. Mid Amateur. Played for three different states in his four different USGA Men's State Team Championships, including Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
Won the 1999 Georgia Amateur, the 1992 Florida Mid-Amateur, the 2001 and 2002 Georgia Mid-Amateur, the 2003 Carolinas Mid-Amateur, the 1994 Florida Match Play Championship and the Georgia Match Play Championship from 1999-2001. Named Georgia Player of the Year in 1999 and 2001. Finished 19th at the 2011 Carolinas Amateur and had two top-20 finishes at the 2011 Carolinas Mid-Amateur and the Azalea Invitational. Has won the Mid-Amateur Championship in every state he has lived in. Had shoulder surgery in 2009, allowing him to play more competitive golf.
Works in the equipment business for Carolina CAT. Played quarterback for Wofford and was named Honorable Mention All-American as a senior. Also pitched for the Wofford baseball team. Has been married to his wife, Lori, for 30 years, and has three children, Chris, Ryan and Stephanie, all in their 20s. Carries a state quarter from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina to mark his ball with. Enjoys working in the yard when he is not playing golf.
