Robert Funk

His grandfather, John Funk (son of Funk and Wagnalls Dictionary founder), introduced him to the game. Funk started playing around the age of 14. Had a bit of an unfortunate event in his one and only match played in high school. The opponent gave him a putt, but when he picked the ball up he found out he was disqualified. Didn't pick up a club, or a ball again until he was 27. But he was more interested in other pursuits of Southern California, like skateboarding. He became a competitive golfer at the age of 40 and has, admittedly, been sober for 30 years.
His sons, Capron and Corey, are both YouTube artists. They are better known as Funk Bros, who do crazy stunts and challenges, while riding scooters. They have more than three million followers. Funk works as their manager.
Won the 2012 Crane Cup Invitational. Qualified for the Senior British Open, finishing T-29th. Made it to the final stage of the Champions Tour School, finished T-45th and was the only amateur to make the field.
Had left ankle surgery in 2015, and was inactive from January to April, but was still able to qualify for the U.S. Amateur 4-Ball, where he finished 64th.
Had a successful 2016 season, finishing T-14th at the Crane Cup, T-13th at the SCGA Mid Am, Amateur, and 3rd at the Kelly Cup 3rd before getting surgery again, this time on his right ankle. Qualified for the 2016 U.S Amateur four ball, but had to withdraw due to an injury.
This season he finished 9th at the 2017 SCGA Mid-Am and 2nd at the Kelly Cup.
At the 2017 U.S. Senior Open, Funk finished as the low amateur at T-54th with a score of 288 (69, 72, 75, 72).
