Ron Schroeder

Started playing golf around the age of 10 years old and credits his dad for introducing him to the sport. Says his best golf experiences were winning the 1978 and 1979 NAIA National Championships at Sam Houston State. Has 10 career hole-in-ones to his name. Retried from the Houston Police Department in 2007 after a 25-year career.
Is married to his wife, Gayle, and they have three boys: James, Davis and Grant. One of his sons played baseball for the New York Mets. Turned professional at age 50 after retiring from the police department and raising his kids. Had been an alternate at the U.S. Senior Open three times and this marks his second time playing in the event (played in 2012). His son Grant will caddie for him at the U.S. Senior Open. When he's not golfing, Ron likes to spend time with his family and at church as well as going hunting and fishing.
Recently, Schroeder won the 2014 Colorado Senior Open after shooting 2-under par. Prior to that, he was the runner-up at the Southern Texas PGA Senior Series and finished 6th on the Sun Belt Senior Tour at Harmony Golf Club after finishing the tournament at 4-under par.
Played in 13 different USGA events from 1989-2003. Was a 5-time Houston City Amateur champion and also has won the Texas Mid-Amateur, the Jamaican Open Champion and the Waterloo Senior Open.
