Sami Valimaki

During 2018 Valimaki was selected for the Europe team in the Bonallack Trophy and for the Continent of Europe team in the St Andrews Trophy. He played for the Finnish team that won the 2018 European Amateur Team Championship and represented Finland in the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy. He reached as high as 10th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2018. While still an amateur, Valimaki also played a number of Nordic Golf League events in 2017 and 2018.
Valimaki turned professional in 2019 and collected his lone European Tour victory a year later in the Oman Open in a playoff over Brandon Stone. He also owns four other worldwide victories, all of which came on the Pro Golf Tour. As an amateur, Valimaki represented Finland in the 2018 World Amateur Team Championship held in the Republic of Ireland. He also helped Finland capture the European Team Championship in 2018.
2020 Notes: Played in 19 European Tour events making 14 cuts with seven top-ten finishes. He was 11th in the Race to Dubai, winning euro807,950. In just his sixth start on the European Tour, he won the Oman Open, beating Brandon Stone on the third hole of a playoff. He was 2nd in the Handa Wales Open, two shots back of Romain Langasque. He ended his year T-5th at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai he was three shots back of winner Matthew Fitzpatrick. He also got to play for the first time in America at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot, missing the cut.
2021 Notes: Played in 22 DP World Tour events making 9 cuts. He was 159th in the Race to Dubai, earning euro150,067. Best finish T-21st at the Betfred British Masters.
2022 Notes: Played in 24 DP World Tour events making 14 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 100th in the Race to Dubai, earning euro418,276. Best finish 4th at the BMW International Open, four shots back of the winner Li Haotong. He ended his year with a T-27th finish at the Portugal Masters.
2023 Notes: He began his season by finishing 2nd at the Joburg Open, three shots back of the winner Dan Bradbury. Valimaki's finish earned him a spot into the 151st Open. Was 2nd again at the Singapore Classic, one shot back of winner Ockie Strydom.
