Shanshan Feng

Started playing golf at age 10. Credits her father, Feng Xiong, and coach Gary Gilchrist as the individuals most influencing her career. Qualified for the Tour on her first attempt.
Enjoyed a decorated amateur career that included nine wins in China. Won the China Junior Championship and the China Junior Open in 2004. Was a three-time winner of the China Amateur Tournament (2004-06). Also won the 2006 China Women's Amateur Open. Was a member of the 2006 All-China Championship Team and also earned medalist honors at the event. Named Golfweek's Top Chinese Amateur in 2007 after winning four tournaments on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) in 2007. Qualified for the 2007 U.S. Women's Open.
In 2007, as an amateur, Feng was 9th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2008 LPGA season. Turned professional immediately following the final round and became the first Chinese woman to earn an LPGA Tour card.
In 2008, she recorded a runner-up finish at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic. Carded a career-low 63 in the final round of the LPGA State Farm Classic, where she was T-4th. Also, T-4th at the Navistar LPGA Classic and the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. Recorded a sixth-place finish at the Grand China Air LPGA.
In 2009, her best finish was T-20th at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill.
In 2010, her best finish was T-4th at the LPGA State Farm Classic. Also, T-6th at the Kia Classic and finished seventh at the CVS Pharmacy/LPGA Challenge. Tied for 10th at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic.
In 2011, she recorded four top-10 finishes, including second place at the Mizuno Classic and T-8th at the LPGA State Farm Classic where she crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings. Tied for ninth at the Avnet LPGA Classic and Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and T-13th at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup.
In 2012, she played in 19 events, making 18 cuts and earning $1,101,147. She had eight top-10 finishes, including six top-fives. She became the first-ever mainland Chinese player to win an LPGA major championship at the Wegmans LPGA Championship, the second major championship of the season.
2013 Notes: She played in 19 events, making 18 cuts. She won at the Reignwood LPGA Classic and CME Group Titleholders. She had eight top-10 finishes and earned $1,716,657, which placed her fourth on the money list.
2014 Notes: She was 6th on the money list (her third straight year in the top 10) and 6th in CME points, making the cut in all 24 of her starts. She won the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, shooting a final-round 63 with an eagle on the 16th hole to beat Pornanong Phatlum by three strokes. She also won the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour for the second time (also won in 2012) and defeated Carlota Ciganda by five strokes. She was second three times worldwide, including twice on the LPGA Tour. Feng was T-2nd at the Women's British Open, one stroke back of winner Mo Martin after a final-round 75 in windy conditions at Royal Birkdale. She was 2nd at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Feng made up five strokes in the final round to tie Christina Kim, before losing a playoff on the second extra hole after they tied at 15-under 273. She was also 2nd in the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup, a major on the Japan LPGA Tour. Feng led by two shots after 54 holes but was caught by Misuzu Narita and finished one stroke back. She finished 3rd at the Manulife Financial Classic, five strokes back of winner Inbee Park.
2015 Notes: Made 20 cuts in 21 starts, was 9th on the LPGA money list and 14th in CME points. She had 12 top-10s with a T-2nd at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, T-3rd at the Marathon Classic, one shot out of the Chella Choi-Ha Na Jang playoff. She was 3rd at the Evian Championship. Played in six Ladies European Tour events and was leading money winner. She won the Buick Championship in Shanghai and the Dubai Ladies Masters. She won the Buick Championship in Shanghai, overcoming a double bogey on the first hole of her final round to win by six strokes over Hyeon Seo Kang, of Korea. She ended her year with a 12-stroke win at the Dubai Ladies Masters on the LET. It was her second straight win in the tournament (and third overall) after a five-stroke win in 2014. Even with just 6 starts, she was the leading money winner on the LET.
2016 Notes: Played in 21 LPGA events making 20 cuts. She was 5th on the LPGA money list with $1,458,579 (her fifth straight year in the top 10) and 7th in CME points with two victories (and another on the LET) and 11 top 10s. Her LPGA wins were Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and the Toto Japan Classic.
She successfully defended her title at the LET's Buick Championship in Shanghai with a birdie on the first playoff hole to defeat Na Yeon Choi and then again at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. She won a bronze medal with a third-place finish at the Olympic Games as a member of China's women's golf team. She was six back of winner Inbee Park and one back of Lydia Ko. She not only won the bronze medal but met Chinese President Xi Jinping in a ceremony for China's Olympic medal winners, and while shaking his hand, blurted out, "President, you're so handsome!' The Chinese president smiled and shook her hand again.
2017 Notes: Played in 22 events making 20 cuts. Had her first three-win season, including a title defense at the TOTO Japan Classic and then a win the next week at the Blue Bay LPGA. With the victory at the Blue Bay, she moved to #1 in the Rolex Rankings. She won the Volvik Championship by one shot over Minjee Lee and Sung Hyun Park. Was runner-up at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and T-3rd at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open and Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan. She had top-tens in three majors, T-5th at the U.S. Women's Open, T-6th at the Evian Championship and T-7th at the RIcoh Women's Open. Feng finished the year 4th on the money list
2018 Notes: Feng played in 22 LPGA Tour events making 21 cuts with six top-ten finishes. She was T-3rd at the PureSilk Bahamas Classic, three strokes back of winner Brittany Lincicome, then T-5th in the Honda LPGA Thailand. Her next top-ten was a T-3rd at the Lotte Championship, 5 back of winner Brooke Henderson. Unfortunately the next week after finishing T-12th at the Hugel JTBC L.A. Open she lost the number one Rolex Ranking to Inbee Park. Feng had been number one for 23 weeks. She was T-3rd at the Mediheal Championship, 4 shots back of the playoff won by Lydia Ko. Feng finished 27th on the money list with $738,823 and 24th in the Race to CME.
2019 Notes: Was T-4th at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions.
