Stacy Lewis

Started playing golf at age eight and credits her parents for encouraging her to play even after having back surgery. From age 11, she wore a back brace 18 hours per day for seven and a half years to correct curvature in her spine from scoliosis, removing it only to play golf. Had back surgery during her senior year of high school and redshirted for one season before joining the University of Arkansas women's golf team.
While at Arkansas, she won 12 collegiate events and was a four-time All-American selection. Was the 2005 SEC Freshman of the Year, 2007 NCAA Division I national champion, and 2008 SEC Championship medalist and Player of the Year. Away from collegiate competition, she won the 2006 Harder Hall Invitational and 2006 Western Amateur and was a semifinalist at the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur. Also won the 2007 Southern Amateur and was the 2007 Dinah Shore Trophy Award recipient. A two-time Golfweek and Golf Digest Women's Amateur Player of the Year (2006 and 2007), she was also the top-ranked amateur in the Golfweek/Titleist Women's Amateur Rankings in 2008. She graduated from Arkansas in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting. When she's not playing golf, her hobbies include working out, watching sports, especially SEC football, traveling, and having spare time to herself. Her favorite sports team is the Arkansas Razorbacks, and she had the honor of leading the football team on the field in their final game of the 2012 season. She traveled to Africa in 2011 with Betsy King's Golf Fore Africa.
A member of the victorious U.S. Team at the 2007 Copa de las Americas, she also played on the victorious 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup Team, becoming the first player to go 5-0 in Curtis Cup history.
In 2007, as an amateur, carded a career-low 65 to take the first-round lead at the LPGA NW Arkansas Championship. Also finished T-5th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship to earn low amateur honors.
In 2008, turned professional in June. Competed in seven events on Tour with two top-10 finishes, including T-3rd at the U.S. Women's Open and a T-6th at the Kapalua LPGA Classic. Also competed in two events on the Duramed Futures Tour with two top-three finishes. Earned medalist honors at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn Priority List Category 11 for the 2009 LPGA season.
In 2009, her best finish was T-4th at the Wegmans LPGA and T-9th at the McDonald's LPGA Championship.
In 2010, she recorded a season-best runner-up finish at the Tres Marias Championship, finished 3rd at the Mizuno Classic, T-7th at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational and Corona Light, and T-9th at the P&G NW Arkansas Championship.
In 2011, she won the Kraft Nabisco Championship, defeating Rolex Rankings No. 1 Yani Tseng by three shots for her first major championship victory, crossing the $1 million mark in career earnings. Recorded 10 additional top-10 finishes, including runner-up at the Evian Masters, T-2nd at the CN Canadian Women's Open, 5th at the Avnet LPGA Classic, T-5th at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, T-6th at the Wegman's LPGA Championship, Navistar LPGA Classic, and Mizuno Classic, T-8th at the Safeway Classic and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, and T-9th at the HSBC Women's Champions. She also competed on her first U.S. Solheim Cup Team with a 1-3-0 record.
2012 Notes: Played in 26 events, making 25 cuts. She won LPGA Player of the Year honors following a four-win season. Tallied 15 additional top-10 finishes, including three runner-ups. Earned $1,872,409, which placed her 3rd on the money list.
2013 Notes: Lewis played in 26 events and made the cut 25 times, finishing 3rd on the Tour money list. She received the Vare Trophy for a career-low scoring average of 69.484. Had 19 top-10 finishes and won three times, including her second major victory at the RICOH Women's British Open. She led the Tour in birdies and eagles made, top-10 finishes, and scoring average. Competed on her second U.S. Solheim Cup Team and posted a 1-2-1 record.
2014 Notes: She had three wins and six runner-up finishes among her 18 top-10 finishes. She made the cut in all 28 starts, won the LPGA money title with $2,539,039, the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average (69.53), and was the Player of the Year. She was the first American to sweep the Tour's big three awards since Betsy King in 1993. She was second in the CME point standings. She won for the first time in 2014 at the North Texas Shootout, shooting 268 with a final-round 64 to beat Meena Lee by six strokes. She got her second win of the year at the ShopRite Classic, shooting 16-under 197 to beat Christina Kim by six strokes. The win returned Lewis to No. 1 on the Rolex Rankings. She was No. 1 from March 17 to April 14, 2013, before losing the top spot to Inbee Park. She won for the third time at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, shooting a final-round 65 to beat Lydia Ko, Cristie Kerr, and Angela Stanford by one stroke. She was second at the season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas Classic, one shot back of Jessica Korda; T-2nd at the Founders Cup, one shot back of winner Karrie Webb; and had her third runner-up finish of the year at the Swinging Skirts Championship in San Francisco when Lydia Ko beat her by one shot with a birdie on the last hole. Lewis was the 54-hole leader and shot 71 Sunday to finish at 11-under 277, one from Ko's mark. Lewis was second at the U.S. Women's Open after a final-round 66 moved her to within two shots of winner Michelle Wie. She was second to M.J. Hur at the Yokohama Tire Classic for her fifth runner-up finish of the year. Lewis dropped from the No. 1 spot on the Rolex Rankings on October 27, as Inbee Park again took over the top ranking. One week later, Park beat Lewis by two shots at the Fuban LPGA Taiwan Championship. It was Lewis' sixth runner-up finish of the season.
2015 Notes: Played in 26 events and made 25 cuts, finishing 3rd on the money list and 4th on the CME points list. Lewis was T-2nd at the Honda LPGA Thailand, two shots back of winner Amy Yang. Lewis held at least a share of the lead after the first three rounds and shot a 72 Sunday to fall back. She was 3rd at the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore, four shots back of winner Inbee Park; 2nd at the JTBC Founders Cup, three shots back of winner Hyo Joo Kim; and 2nd at the ANA Inspiration, losing on the third hole of a playoff to Brittany Lincicome after they tied at nine-under 279. It was Lewis' third runner-up finish of the year. She missed the cut at the Manulife LPGA Classic after making 46 straight cuts since withdrawing because of an illness at the 2013 Canadian Women's Open after a first-round 74. In defense of her Walmart NW Arkansas title, she finished T-3rd. Two weeks later did it again finishing T-3rd at the U.S. Women's Open. Lewis had the lead Sunday until a double bogey on 15. She shot a final-round 70 and was three back of winner In Gee Chun. She lost a playoff to Lydia Ko at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open after they tied at 12-under 276 at Vancouver GC. Ko made 4 on the first playoff hole to Lewis' 5. She was named to her third U.S. Solheim Cup team and went 2-2 in the Matches, including a 2-and-1 loss to Anna Nordqvist in singles. She had her fifth runner-up finish of the year with a T-2nd at the LPGA Malaysia, finishing four strokes back of winner Jessica Korda. She had her sixth runner-up finish of the year with a T-2nd at the Blue Bay LPGA, finishing one stroke back of winner Sei Young Kim. She missed a 20-foot birdie putt on the last hole that would have forced a playoff.
2016 Notes: Played in 24 LPGA events, making the cut in all 24 cuts and recording 8 top-ten finishes. She was runner-up 3 times: T-2nd at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, two back of winner Hyo Joo Kim; T-2nd at the Yokohama Tire Classic, one shot back of winner Ariya Jutanugarn; and solo 2nd at the Cambia Portland Classic, four back of winner Brooke Henderson. She was 16th on the money list with $943,502 and 24th in CME points, it was the first time she was outside the top 10 on the money list since 2010. She broke her streak at 264 weeks of being in the top 10 of the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. The streak went from 2011 to 2016. She married Gerrod Chadwell, the men's golf coach at Houston, in a ceremony in Mystic, Conn., on Aug. 6; the day after the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics. They got engaged in Nov. 2015. She was T-4th at the Rio Olympics as a member of Team USA. Lewis shot 66 in the final round to finish at nine-under 284, one shot behind bronze medalist Shanshan Feng.
2017 Notes: Played in 25 LPGA events making 25 cuts. Won the Cambia Portland Classic in her 83rd start since her 2014 win in Arkansas. Lewis donated her entire $195,000 Cambia Portland Classic winner's check to Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts, which was matched by her sponsor KPMG. Also was T-2nd at Bank of Hope Founders Cup, 2 shots back of winner Anna Nordqvist. 3rd at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, one shot out of the playoff won by Brittany Lincicome. Made it to the U.S. Solheim Cup team for the 4th time, finishing 1-3-0.
2018 Notes: Began the year being sidelined with a rib injury after finishing T-66th in the Pure Silk Bahamas Championship. Had her first top-ten of the year with a T-7th finish at the LPGA Volvik Championship. In April, she announced she was pregnant with her first child. She was awarded the Ben Hogan Award by the Golf Writers Association of America at its annual banquet at the Masters in April. Her last event was the Marathon Classic in mid-July. She only played in 12 events making 8 cuts with one top-ten. Won $116,079, which ranked 99th. Gave birth to a daughter, Chesnee Lynn Chadwell, on October 25th.
2019 Notes: Played in 19 LPGA Tour events making 11 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 60th on the money list with $329,191 in earnings and finished 60th on the CME points list. In her first event back from becoming a mother was T-6th at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. Was T-10th at the HUGEL-AIR PREMIA L.A. Open, she opened the event with a 65 to co-lead after the first round. She was 3rd at the Marathon Classic, six back of winner Sei Young Kim. Served a vice-captain for the U.S, Solheim Cup team after being forced to withdraw with a rib cage injury
2020 Notes: Played in 17 LPGA Tour events making 14 cuts with three top-ten finishes. She was 17th on the money list with $513,863 in earnings and finished 10th on the CME points list. She Was T-9th at the Marathon Classic and shot a final-round 65. Next week won the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open. She was able to beat Cheyenne Knight, Azahara Munoz, and Emily Kristine Pedersen with a birdie on the first extra hole. It was her first victory since becoming a mother, and the victory crossed her over the $13 million milestone. Finished 5th at the ANA Inspiration, three shots back of the Mirim Lee, Brooke Henderson & Nelly Korda playoff.
2021 Notes: Played in 22 LPGA Tour events making 18 cuts with four top-10 finishes. She was 50th on the money list with $425,061 in earnings and 46th in CME points. Was T-8th at the Gainbridge LPGA, T-7th at the KIA Classic, and T-9th at the Marathon Classic. Best finish of the year was T-6th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
2022 Notes: In February, she was named captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup team for 2023. She is also on the LPGA Board of Directors. Played in 25 LPGA Tour events, making 17 cuts with three top-ten finishes. She was 64th on the money list with $399,412 in earnings and was 60th in CME points. Got the year off to a good start with a T-8th at the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio and a T-4 at the LPGA Drive On Championship in her second and third events. Finished 3rd at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational with partner Maria Fassi. She ended the season finishing T-25th at the CME Group Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: In February, Lewis was named the captain of the 2024 U.S. Solheim Cup team, along with being the Captain of the 2023 team. Was T-7th at the LPGA Drive On Championship at Superstition Mt. Teamed up again with Maria Fassis, and the two finished 3rd again at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational.
