Shot 67 to earn the only spot at the Jasper, Ala., sectional, and qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open.
Also played in 2010 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., where he made the cut and finished 68th. His dad, Travis, played in the inaugural U.S. Senior Open in 1980 and finished 23rd. At the USGA Men's State Team Championship, helped Alabama to a runner-up finish in 2005 by shooting a third-round 66, the lowest round of the championship. Also led Alabama to a third-place finish in 2007. Has played in the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Mid-Amateur, reaching the first round of match play at the 2005 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Won the 2011 Alabama Senior Amateur Championship and the 2010 Alabama Mid-Amateur Championship. Also played in the British Mid-Amateur in 2006 and 2007. Named the Alabama Golf Association Player of the Year in 2004 and 2009, becoming the oldest player to win the award in 2009. Is a financial advisor. Enjoys fly fishing.
