Started playing golf at the age of 10. Credits her parents as the individuals most influencing her career.
During amateur career, won the 1997 Freeport-McDermott Classic and the Rolex Tournament of Champions. That same year won the Florida High School State Championship, placed second at the Nabisco Mission Hills and was ranked fourth nationally among junior girls
by Golfweek. She ended 1997 by being named a Rolex First-Team American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-American.
While at the University of Tennessee, won the 2001 Betsy Rawls Intercollegiate and finished second at the 1999 and 2000 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships. Was named the 1999 SEC Freshman of the Year and was a four-time All- SEC selection. Finished fifth at the 2001 NCAA Championship. Was the first Lady Vol golfer to earn First-Team All- American honors by the National Golf Coaches Association and was a four-time NCAA All-American selection. In college, finished in the top 10 in 26 tournaments and during the 2000-01 season recorded a women's collegiate season-low 65 (-7) at the Bryan National Collegiate.
In 2002, turned professional in June; tied for 21st at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2003 LPGA season.
In 2003, best finish of her rookie season was a tie for sixth at the McDonald's LPGA Championship.
In 2004, recorded her career-best finish at the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic, where she placed second.
In 2005, recorded a season-best tie for 16th at the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open.
In 2006, recorded a season-best fourth-place finish at the Corona Morelia Championship.
In 2007, best finish was a tie for 21st at the Wegmans LPGA; returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she tied for seventh to regain exempt status for the 2008 LPGA season
In 2008, recorded a season-best tie for 16th at the Kapalua LPGA Classic.
In 2009, only played five events during an injury-plagued season, which carried over into 2010 in which she only played in six events.
