Grayson Murray

His earliest golf memory was meeting Arnold Palmer when he was 9. He competed in the U.S. Junior in 2009, 2010, and 2011, making match play but losing in the first round every year. He qualified for the 2009 U.S. Amateur at just 15 years old and recorded a hole-in-one at the event. He was the youngest player in the U.S. to qualify for the 2009 U.S. Open. He won the Callaway Junior World Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
He won the 2010 and 2012 REX Hospital Open Junior Invitational, earning him a spot on the Korn Ferry Tour's REX Hospital Open. In 2010, he shot a second-round score of 66 to become the second-youngest competitor to make the cut in a Korn Ferry Tour Event (16 years, 7 months, 20 days). When he's not golfing, he likes to go fishing.
After turning professional in 2015, he played on the eGolf Tour and collected his first professional victory at the Imperial Headwear Southern Open in Kannapolis, N.C., outside his hometown of Raleigh, N.C., in what was just his third start on that circuit. At the end of the year went to Web.Com Tour Q-School and finished T-74th, which got him on that circuit for 2016.
2016 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments Entered - 17; In Money - 10; Top-10 Finishes - 8; Scoring Average - 68.62 (Rank 1st); Money - $159,963 (Rank 18th); Finals Money - $248,000 (1st); Priority Rank (2nd); Best Finish win Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship. Was 2nd in the final priority ranking (behind three-time winner Wesley Bryan) after claiming the Web.com Finals money title with $248,000, earning an exemption into The Players Championship in 2017, as well as fully exempt status on the PGA Tour. As a conditional, he got lucky getting into the Rex Hospital Open on a sponsor's exemption and then finishing in the top ten, which got him into the next event, when he got another top ten. By doing that got exempt for the rest of the year and had a career year, thus getting a ticket for the PGA Tour in 2017.
2017 Notes: He played in 30 PGA Tour events, making 18 cuts with two top-ten finishes, ending the year 85th in the FedExCup rankings. In his second event finished T-8th at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He struggled a bit after that until he won the Barbasol Championship, which now opens up a lot of doors, like being exempt next year and now getting invited to big events like the PGA Championship.
He struggled over the next six years on both the PGA and Korns Ferry Tour. In that time, he only had six top-ten finishes on the PGA Tour. His best finish was T-3rd at the Puerto Rico Open, three shots back of winner Branden Grace.
2023 Notes: He split time between the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour but finished 7th on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List to improve his PGA Tour status for the 2024 season. He made 13 starts on both the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour, earning two wins and nine made cuts on the Korn Ferry Tour, along with two top-10s and five made cuts on the PGA Tour. One of five multi-time winners on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023, he won the AdventHealth Championship and the Simmons Bank Open.
2024 Notes: Defeated Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley in a playoff to win the Sony Open in Hawaii, earning his second PGA Tour title and first since the 2017 Barracuda Championship (6 years, 5 months, 22 days since his first win). Victory came in his 129th career start at the age of 30 years, 3 months, 13 days.
