Stephan Jaeger

Jaeger started playing golf at age 10. His parents, Sophie and Klaus, and sister, Michaela, are avid golfers and would all play on family vacations. As a kid, Jaeger played tennis, soccer, and street hockey. He still loves playing any sports, including volleyball and basketball, but admits he is "terrible" at the latter. Jaeger describes his accent as "southern American German." He was raised in a small town near Munich, Germany, before moving to the United States to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He posted four collegiate wins: 2011 LSU National Invitational, 2011 Golfweek Conference Challenge, 2012 SoCon Championship & 2012 NCAA Bowling Green Regional. Set the Chattanooga school record for career scoring average at 72.10. 2012 first-team PING All-American, second-team Golfweek All-American. Three-time Southern Conference Player of the Year. Made it to the Round of 32 at the 2009 and 2010 British Amateur and the 2011 U.S. Amateur. He was invited to play as an amateur at the BMW International Open (European Tour).
In August 2012, he turned pro. He made one Korn Ferry Tour start, missing the cut at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. I got to the finals of the PGA Tour Q-School but finished T-162nd.
2013 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 14; rounds played - 42; in money - 7; top-10 finishes - 0; scoring average - 70.52 (ranked 53rd); money - $38,015 (ranked 107th); Best finish, T-11th BMW Charity Pro-Am.
2014 PGA Tour Latinoamerica Summary: Joined the tour with a T-16th finish at the Qualifying Tournament in Sebring, Fla., in January. Tournaments Entered - 12; rounds played - 33; in money - 5; top-10 finishes - 1; scoring average - 71.30 (ranked 38th); money - $13,284 (ranked 61st); Best finish, T-9th Ecuador Open.

2015 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 19; rounds played - 47; in money - 4; top-10 finishes - 2; scoring average - 71.79 (ranked 128th); money - $52,412 (ranked 86th); Best finish, T-4th Mexico Championship. He qualified for his first U.S. Open in June, posting 74-80 to miss the cut. He flew from Seattle to his native Munich, Germany, to play in the following week's BMW International Open on the European Tour at the course he grew up playing. They posted rounds of 75-77 and missed the cut.
2016 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 18; rounds played - 63; in money - 13; top-10 finishes - 1; scoring average - 69.62 (ranked 20th); money - $147,024 (ranked 28th); Best finish, winner Ellie Mae Classic.
2017 Korn Ferry Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 22; rounds played - 69; in money - 13; top-10 finishes - 3; scoring average - 70.55 (ranked 67th); money - $278,364 (ranked 5th), was 85th in the Korn Ferry Finals; Best finish, winner BMW Charity Pro-Am, and Rust-Oleum Championship. He earned a PGA Tour card for 2018 with his 5th-place standings on the money list.
2018 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 14 cuts with three top-25 finishes. On the FedExCup standings was 165th. His best finish was T-13th at the Quicken Classic. In May made a start at the Knoxville Open on the Korn Ferry Tour and won the event. He was in the Korn Ferry Finals and was T-4th at the DAP Championship and T-8th at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, and with $69,923 in earnings, he was 17th in the finals money list and 30th in the priority rank. His 17th-place finish on the Finals money list got his PGA Tour card back for 2019.
2019 Notes: Played in 26 PGA Tour events, making 13 cuts with six top-25 finishes. The best was T-14th at the Sanderson Farms Championship and RBC Canadian Open. He was 152nd in the FedExCup standings. He didn't fare well in the Korn Tour Finals, missed the cut at the Nationwide Children's and Boise Open, and was T-67th at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, forcing him back to the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020.
2020/21 Notes: Played 35 events in the two-year Korn Ferry schedule. He made 27 cuts with 13 top-ten finishes. Was T-3rd at the TPC Colorado Championship, then in five weeks won the Albertsons Boise Open, was T-5th on the Nationwide Children's, T-64th at the Korn Ferry Tour Champions, and T-7th at the Evans Scholars Invitational. He ended 2020 with a T-2nd finish at the Orange County National, a shot back of winner Trey Mullinax. In 2021 was 4th at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, three back of winner Roberto Diaz. At the Emerald Golf Classic began the final round four shots off the lead but played the final seven holes of regulation at 3-under par, carded a second consecutive 4-under 66, and won the first playoff hole against David Lipsky with a two-putt par. He totaled 14-under 266 with rounds of 67-67-66-66 for his sixth Korn Ferry Tour title, tied for the second-most career wins in Tour history. In his last ten events to finish the year was runner-up three times, 4th twice, and once 5th. Finished the 2020-21 combined season atop the Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season Points List and the season-long points list (regular season combined with the Korn Ferry Tour Finals), securing fully exempt status on the PGA Tour for the 2021-22 season and an exemption into the 2022 Players Championship.
2022 Notes: He played in 31 PGA Tour events, making 15 cuts and two top-ten finishes. He was 94th in the FedExCup rankings. He was T-6th at the Wells Fargo Championship, five shots back of winner Max Homa. He was 5th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, six back of winner Tony Finau. In the FedExCup playoffs, he was T-46th in the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
2023 Notes: Played in 33 PGA Tour events, making 30 cuts with two top-ten finishes. It was 56th in the FedExCup rankings. Was T-9th at the Cadence Bank Houston Open and T-9th at the Rocket Mortgage. In the FedExCup playoffs was T-20th at the FedExSt. Jude Championship.
2024 Notes: Was T-3rd at the Farmers Insurance Open and Mexico Open at Vidanta. Shot a final round 67 to win the Texas Children's Houston Open by a shot over Scottie Scheffler, Alejandro Tosti, Taylor Moore, Tony Finau, and Thomas Detry.
