Presently a fund manager at Double Eagle Capitol. Many people don't know this but his given name was Ernest. Won the 2007 U.S. Mid-Amateur, was runner-up to Tiger Woods in 1994 U.S. Amateur Championship. Member of the 1995, 2003 and 2007 Walker Cup teams and the 2006 World Amateur team. . . Played in four U.S. Opens (1996, 2003, 2005 and 2007), making the cut in 1996 and 2003. . . Low amateur in 2003 at Olympia Fields. . . Member of 1995 Oklahoma State NCAA championship team. . . Sister, Kelli, now a touring pro, won the 1994 U.S. Girl Junior, the 1995 and 1996 U.S. Women Amateur and the British Women Amateur and was a member of the Curtis Cup squad. Brother, Hank, won the 1998 U.S. Amateur with Trip caddieing. . . Graduated from Oklahoma State but transferred from Arizona State, where he played for one year. . . Injured shoulder in second year in Tempe and played first three tournaments and then received medical redshirt. . . Phil Mickelson was his roommate that year at ASU. . . Began playing at age 10 in hometown of Dallas. . . Was influenced to play golf by Scott Stegner, who qualified for the 1982 U.S. Open.
