Brian Harman

Golf is the only thing Harman does left-handed. He had a decorated amateur career that saw him win the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, the 2005 Players Amateur, Georgia Amateur, the 2007 Porter Cup, and the 2009 Dogwood Invitational. He was also a member of two winning U.S. Walker Cup Teams (2005 and '09) and the winning U.S. Palmer Cup team in 2007.
Harman was a three-time second-team All-American at the University of Georgia. He won the 2005 NCAA Preview and the 2006 Isleworth Invitational. He also won the yearly award for the highest grade point average three times.
In 2010, Harman played mostly on the eGolf Professional Tour, finishing in the top 10 in 11 of his 14 starts. He gained his first professional victory at the Manor Classic, where he won by three shots over Jason Kokrak and Drew Weaver. He also played in three Korn Ferry Tour events in 2010. His best showing came at the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA, where he placed T-18th on his former college course.
2011 Notes: Played mainly on the eGolf Tour, finishing 10th on that Tour's money list, with a runner-up finish and two third-place performances. In December, finished T-8th at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at PGA West in Palm Springs, Calif., to earn fully exempt rookie status on the Tour in 2012.
2012 Notes: He recorded the first top-10 finish of his career with a T-5th at The Barclays, jumping from No. 97 to No. 41 in the FedExCup standings. The following week, he fell 10 spots in the standings with a T-74th finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship but still earned a spot in the BMW Championship field. For the year, he finished 51st in the FedExCup race and 87th in the money race with $1,146,448.
2013 Notes: Made 15 of 29 Tour cuts, with two top-10s. Finished 94th in the final FedExCup standings. Finished T-10th at the Wells Fargo Championship. He finished T-3rd at the Wyndham Championship, just two strokes out of the playoff. Both top-10s during the season came in North Carolina. Finished 92nd on the money list.
2014 Notes: A banner year for Harman, starting with a T-7th at the year's first event, Frys.com Open. His second top-10, a T-10th, came at the McGladrey Classic in his hometown. At the Northern Trust, he had his best finish of the year to that point, a T-3rd. At the John Deere Classic, he opened with a round of 63, then fired rounds of 68-65-66 for a one-shot win and his first on the PGA Tour. With the victory, he got the last spot in the British Open and also the last seat on the players' charter that flew the group to Manchester for the Open. He finished T-26th at Hoylake. He had 32 starts and made the cut in 23 events with six top-10s. Finished the year 36th in the FedExCup race and 34th on the money list.
2015 Notes: Played in 29 events, making 16 cuts with three top-10s: T-8th at the Players Championship, T-10th at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, and 3rd at the Travelers Championship, just one shot out of the playoff. Was 57th in the FedExCup race and 65th on the money list.
2016 Notes: He played in 31 events, making 21 cuts. He had two top-10s, the best of which was a T-7th at the CIMB Classic. He didn't get his next top-10 until he finished T-8th at the Barbasol Championship. He was 53rd in the FedExCup race and 82nd in the money race.
2017 Notes: Beginning the final round two strokes back at the Wells Fargo Championship, birdied the 71st and 72nd holes to claim his second career PGA Tour win in his 172nd career PGA Tour start at the age of 30 years, 3 months, 18 days. He sealed the win with a 28-foot birdie putt on 18 and won by a shot over Dustin Johnson and Pat Perez. Became the sixth left-handed player to capture multiple wins on the PGA Tour. He almost topped that win at the U.S. Open as he entered the final round with the lead but shot a final-round 72 to finish runner-up, while Brooks Koepka shot 67 to win by four shots over Harman and Hideki Matsuyama.
Three days after his 30th birthday on January 19, he posted a 3-under 69 in the final round of the CareerBuilder Challenge to finish T-3rd with Bud Cauley at 18-under 270. A week later, at the Farmers Insurance Open, he shot a final-round 68 highlighted by an eagle-3 at the 72nd hole to finish T-9th. Finished T-9th at the RBC Heritage, four shots behind champion Wesley Bryan. After his win at the Wells Fargo and a close call at the U.S. Open, he shot 63-67 over the weekend to finish T-10th at the John Deere Classic. He played in all four FedExCup Playoff events for the first time in his career to end the year 25th in the FedExCup standings. Finished 12th in the point total of the Presidents Cup. He said that motivated him to play better in the future.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour events making 22 cuts with eight top-ten finishes. He was 48th in the final FedExCup standings. He started his year T-5th at the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, then 8th at the WGC-HSBC Championship. Was T-4th at the RSM Classic. He again was in the top-10 at the Sentry TofC, finishing 3rd, and the next week was T-4th at the Sony Open in Hawaii, his fifth consecutive top-10. Was T-5th at the WGC-Mexico Championship, three shots out of the Mickelson/Thomas playoff. At the WGC-Dell Match Play Championship, lost in the Round of 16 to eventual winner Bubba Watson, 2 & 1. Was T-6th at the Travelers Championship. At the end of the year won the QBE Shootout with partner Patton Kizzire.
2019 Notes: He played in 29 PGA Tour events, making 16 cuts and four top-ten finishes. He was 88th in the FedExCup standings. He finished T-8th at the Players Championship. He opened with a 66 and finished with rounds of 69-71-70. He was T-8th at the Travelers Championship and T-7th at the 3M Open with a final-round 65. He was T-6th in the Wyndham Championship. In the FedExCup playoffs, he was T-52nd in the Northern Trust.
2020 Notes: He played in 22 PGA Tour events, making 17 cuts with one top-ten finish. He was 37th in the FedExCup standings. He began his season with a T-3rd at the Military Tribute at The Greenbrier and closed with a 65. His next start at the Sanderson Farms Champions was T-14th, and also T-14th at the RSM Classic. After the break for COVID-19, his best finishes were T-11th at the Northern Trust and T-12th at the BMW Championship.
2021 Notes: Played in 28 PGA Tour events, making 24 cuts with five top-ten finishes. He was 41st in the FedExCup standings. Held a share of the 36-hole lead at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, shot 67-72 over the weekend to finish T-13th. Was T-8th at The American Express. He was T-3rd at The Players Championship, two shots back of winner Justin Thomas. At the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Matt Kuchar 2 & 1. Despite the loss, his T-5th finish moved him from 59th to 49th in the Official World Golf Ranking, getting a spot in the Masters. He finished T-12th at the Masters even though he shot 74-74 over the weekend. Was T-8th at the Charles Schwab Challenge and T-5th at the Travelers Championship, three back of the English/Hickok playoff. In the FedExCup playoffs was 75th at the Northern Trust and T-29th at the BMW Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 27 PGA Tour events, making 21 cuts with six top-ten finishes. He was 21st in the FedExCup standings. With a final-round 64, finished T-3rd at the American Express, three shots back of winner Hudson Swafford. Was T-5th at the Valspar Championship, three shots back of winner Sam Burns. Was T-9th at the Wells Fargo Championship and T-8th at the Travelers Championship. After opening up with a 73 at the British Open, he shot rounds of 68-68-66 to finish T-6th. In the FedExCup playoffs, he was T-3rd at the FedEx St. Jude, three shots out of the Zalatoris/Straka playoff. Was T-35th at the BMW Championship and T-21st at the Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: Was 2nd at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, four shots back of winner Russell Henley. In his next start near his home in St. Simons Island, Ga., he was T-2nd at the RSM Classic. Shot 64-65 over the weekend to finish two shots back of winner Adam Svensson. He was T-7th at the RBC Heritage, four shots back of the Matt Fitzpatrick/Jordan Spieth playoff. Shot rounds of 64-64 over the weekend to finish T-2nd three shots back of the winner Keegan Bradley. It was Harman's fourth runner-up finish on the PGA Tour and his third this season. Was T-9th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Won The British Open by six shots, earning his third career PGA Tour victory and first major championship title. The victory came in his 168th start since his second title, the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship, snapping a winless drought of 6 years, 2 months, 16 days. Was his 30th career start in a major and eighth at The Open. Became the first player to win by six shots or more on the PGA Tour since Ryan Brehm at the 2022 Puerto Rico Open (6) and the first to do so in a major since Bryson DeChambeau at the 2022 U.S. Open (6). Became the first left-handed player to win on The PGA Tour since Garrick Higgo at the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree and first to win a major since Phil Mickelson at the 2021 PGA Championship.
